Many thinks .info TLD can't rank well in search engines comparing to .com. It has taken as a spam TLD but no one noticed that there are more spam sites with .com than with .info.

This is an example that .info rank well if you have quality content.

Seach Google for word "Spain" . you will get 379 million results and see which is the rank 1 site for this keyword.

Its www.spain.info which is a PR 7 site

You also have to factor in the fact that .com is a much older extension therefore many more .coms rank better due to age.

My issue is that I am having psychological effects on my own mind. If I have a .com I work very hard for it. If I have a .info I try to work hard but then I always feel that I am losing my traffic to the .com version of that domain name. :(

Don't know but this might be happening to others and that would be the reason that they are not doing all the efforts that should be done with a .info domain.

The owner himself sometimes thinks he has lost the battle before it begins.

.info is a stronger extension than .com for country and city keywords. People aren't looking for "com" on Spain and they're not expecting a commercial brand called "Spain". They are looking for information and "info" is commonly understood in every corner of the world.

The rise of .info has been hampered by a zombie-like fixation on .com's in the US. Everywhere else, people aren't as obsessed by .coms. They use their country codes more and .info is often an acceptable alternative extension. In some countries like Germany, .info is highly regarded.

.info has a legitimacy, understandability, and baggage-free geography that the .com doesn't have for certain types of site.
