Hi Folks,
I have some Indian domains (dot IN).
I wonder if anyone has any ideas on the future of this area? I would love some suggestions or advice on holding or investing in the IN domains.
For instance a couple I have are these :
myipod.in
mymovies.in
mywealth.in

Am I on the right track? - the movie industry in India is huge (Bollywood etc) and the OverT searches indicate lots of folk search these terms.
So, Develop em, sit on em, park em -- or dump em :)

Thanks, keep well.

Well I have around 30 or some Indian domains; mostly co.in but a few .in Not sure what the future will be but for now so I would say to hold on to them, especially if you have keywords. One of my best that I receive daily traffic on is Cross.co.in which I get a couple of unique visitors per day to my parked Sedo page. Good luck

Thanks for that - need to look into SEDO. Thats something Im just learning about. Did you have pages built and optimised or just the domain parked?
Do you see a growing value in keyword India sites?

The only drawback about www.Sedo.com, it that it will cost you $150 to sell a .in, or .co.in domain on their website (pretty sure I am right) . So you then have to add $150 to your price to get what you want. Example: a domian sold for $350, will only make you $200.

Even so, I have over a 100 .co.in domains listed there. I figure I will wait a year or two before I sell any, so it really doesn't matter right now.

I agree that is the biggest hitch with Sedo regarding .co.in/.in The nice part is that it will take some time for these domains to truly increase in value and until then Sedo is a nice place to park domains. Once you forward a domain to Sedo they will create your parked page. You can select words for optimize your sell page. Any clicks on that page are income to you and traffic (unique) will be recorded so you can track your investment. But I agree with Frank that selling on an Indian domain on Sedo at this time would not be fruitful.

Hi Knarkmisik & SKG,
Thanks for the feedback. very new to this side of web dev etc so all info welcome :)
I take it Knarkmusik, that if you are waiting - and you have good keyword sites then you see a growing future there?
Are you able tyo comment on the name I have?? - they seem well supported on overture.(11 mill ipod and 1.2mill on music last month).
I am happy to wait as well - i see a big future there :)
While i see that valuation is difficult - any thoughts on these names?
Thanks

Of course, they are great keywords, plus I see a few of the "My" this or that, in the Google India. Like I said, I think in a year, probably more like two, when people in India catch up with the rest of the world on the internet (numbers used),your domains will be worth high $XXX- low $X,XXX??? Of course, "my" opinion only, but I think you will do ok!!
