For discussion purposes I just thought I'd share an idea about accumulating domains, both .coms and gTLD's for certain "key" first words.

I've already created portfolios using the keywords, "Forever" and "Priority", and just today I started a new portfolio using the keyword, "Incredible".....sorry Incredible.sex and incrediblesex.com were gone:xf.frown: However, I discovered some other keyword "extensions" combined with the first keyword "Incredible" are available. You can see one of the names I reg'd at "Reg of the Day"

Before my critics jump all over this, and point out "incredible" is a 10 letter word, let me point out that incredible "anything", especially "sex", is memorable:xf.grin: btw, the three incredible domains I bought today are all .coms, and yes, I did spend $25.50, a little less than I spent for the seafood platter I enjoyed last night.

Let the Fireworks begin....Happy Fourth of July!!!!......Incredible!!!

That might work, but if I were looking for that type of word I would search for "Amazing" first (shorter and less prone to spelling mistakes - imho). I might even look for "Great" for even shorter (depends on whether it fits well with your other words in the domain name...)

Yes incredible is a nice keyword for a brandable domain. However if you plan to launch businesses on a select group of domains I would suggest you stop registering domains. Domains are illiquid and you will need that capital for business expenses if you plan to convert a few of your domains into businesses.

After more than a decade in this industry I only have a few domains with a keyword which emphasizes the superior quality of something...

PhenomenalGames.com
BuenViajes.com
BuenCuerpo.com
ConexionRapida.com
TrabajoRapido.com
RapidMuscleGain.com

I recently sold TrabajoBueno.com .(good job in Spanish)

The #1 rule in domaining is to choose words that will sell instead of choosing words that may sell.

garptrader...you should know me better by now. Sure I've been at this less than a year, but there's a motive in my incredible madness. Like with my .golf and .loan(s) domains, I'm not about to waste my time trying to sell them through the traditional channels....I'm sure to grow broke that way:xf.wink: Have you read anything at all about my plans to take my domains directly to "end users"? How I plan to do it? Like you said, "incredible is a nice keyword". Ever heard of the Incredible Hulk? How about Pixar movies, The Incredibles and Incredible 2? Have you every heard of an "incredible cure"....hmmmm? How about "Incredible Lies"? Oh, I have plans for my incredible names, but it's not to build a business around each one. I hope to have at least 50 before I''m done, costing less than $500. If the names turn out to be truly incredible, I may sell off the entire portfolio to someone who understands my game.....incredible, isn't it

"Incredible" sales according to NameBio -

30 Total Sales

$28.8k Dollar Volume

$961 Average Price

Very average numbers.

"Incredible" is a decent lead word, but there are certainly better synonyms when it comes to branding.

Bulloney if you discover a method of getting past the IT gatekeepers and selling domains in mass at end user prices you could become domainer of the year and then launch a service which competes with Namejet. :)

I'm often not a fan of keywords like this because there are so many other alternatives that convey the same meaning:

Great
Super
Killer
Terrific
Amazing
Awesome
Fantastic
Sensational
Stupendous

When using a descriptor like this, the pairing word is really the key to increasing your odds of a sale. E.g. if your keyword is "crypto" then all of the above pairing words have at least some value in today's market.

Without the strong keyword, "incredible" is a bit too generic for my tastes. Too many other good options available for cheap.

IT gatekeepers? Remember I'm still a newbie? Not sure about selling in mass at "end user" prices either. If I can sell 100 incredible domains that I paid $834 for, I'm sure I'd take quite a bit less than the 150K they appraise for at GD, or the 300K plus they appraise for at Nokta Domains.

Seriously, who are the IT gatekeepers? I'm pretty adept at getting around anything if I know in advance. Thanks.

Yep, I have to agree with 'average'; I sold IncredibleLove.com a year ago for $500; had it for years and never received another offer, and this was the highest this buyer would go, so I accepted the offer. Love is definitely a great keyword, but incredible added to it didn't do it any huge favors, just an average addition. I'm not a big fan of incredible as a keyword. It's not awful, but it's not incredible either (ha).

Good luck; you seem to have a plan, so I hope you have better results than I did with my one random 'incredible' domain. :)

An interesting thread - thanks for starting it @Bulloney!

I especially found the discussion re alternative similar words interesting. As a result, I checked out on NameBio how many sales have started with the word "incredible" and how many with "amazing".

incredible (start with) 22 top sale IncredibleEdibles $5400
amazing (start with) 147 top sale amazing with ca extension $15,264

I think that both are positive and valuable keywords. I think there is a slight nuanced differential meaning between the two, but agree that they are pretty similar.

Best of luck to everyone. I hope you have incredible and amazing domain investing experiences!

Thanks Joe, but we don't think anything alike at all. I just went and matched one of my incredible domains that uses the word "cure" with the names you provided, and the results were dismal at best. What's really funny is, whoever owns SensationalCure.com is asking 100K for it GD, and my "incredible cure" name is every bit as good, if not better.

btw, I own a few "Killer" key word domains that I plan on having a lot of fun with. Oh, AwesomeCure and StupendousCure are available to buy for $8.50 if you like them better. Thanks Joe.

That was my point. Incredible does sound better. But does it sound hundreds of dollars better to someone that wants that kind of name?

I'm assuming IncredibleCure was also available for 8.50 until recently.

It's almost as if most of you are awful at math and probability.

If there are 30 sales on Namebio, let's multiply by 3 and round up and generously say there have been 100 sales with 'incredible' in it ever. Across decades.

How many domains in total have incredible in it?

Well Sedo has 1300 for sale right now and I wouldn't be surprised if we 5x or 10x to see the total amount of junk with that keyword in it across all extensions.

Some will argue they know how to pick'em which is all well and good. But really, when you calculate your chances of a sale in a given year for what a few hundred bucks? Maybe 1-2k... We are looking at 1 in several thousands chance.

Anyway, that's my contribution to domain gamblers anonymous

Ok...who are the HR gatekeepers? One of my best friends was exec. VP and head of HR at Norfolk Southern, s fortune 500 company. Would he know what you mean? Seriously?

Our points disagree Joe..."incredible cure" fits the medical industry far better than "awesome cure" or "stupendous cure". Keep in mind, having owned businesses that did work for both doctors and hospitals, I may have a little better feel for this than the average guy. Make sense? Also, most of the incredible domains I've reg'd so far have an "identifier" word that's four letters or less, bringing the total letter count to less than 15 which I've learned is the magic number according to who's who in the domain business:xf.wink:
