In response to the article on Rick's Blog on 11/11/07 comparing between .com and .mobi as to black shoes and brown shoes I must correct that analogy. The situation is more like .com and .mobi being compared to black shoes and tennis shoes. Seeing as how there are more people who own cellular phones then there are people who own computers it is clear that .mobi will holds a distinct advantage over .com in the future. And while .com names sell more and for more money than .mobi names, it should be noted that initially tennis shoes sold less than black shoes, and for a lot less money. But now the tables have turned; there are more tennis shoes being sold today than any other shoe, in any other color, and in some cases there are tennis shoes selling for as much as black shoes, if not more; a trend that I believe will be mirrored on the domain market with the .mobi extension.

Statistically speaking, even Rick must be prone to choosing the wrong analogy from time to time - as he would no doubt acknowledge himself.

Sure hope you are right and he is wrong on this one.

Not betting on it though. At least for now.

Domaining IS speculation

(Let's not confuse .com businesses to generic domain extension valuations! - they are two seperate things to watch!)

There are only a few people here who publically acknowledge that .mobi has a fair chance of exceeding .com's legacy

I for one am one of them! hehe

(Like .com.cn, NetSol sells now .us.com , with .mobi can there only be one for brand recognition?)

Oh.. what can happen in the next 15 years (of domaining), or 50 for that matter - hope to be alive!

And let's do this exponentially hehe!

(if more and more people who come to .mobi with this new realization, like the thread op consider it like this, like a domino effect consciousness, then it could sooner than later more easily become manifest destiny)

Who knows.. but how much higher is the UPSIDE?

Kind Regards,

Yelo

There are three kind of people in the world!

1.The one's who make things happen.
2.The one's who watch things happen.
3.And the one's who wonder what happen.

and I think dotMobi will make it happen...

And then there are those who take every opportunity to tell you that tennis shoes are unnecessary because it's possible to play tennis with the new $500 iShoes

Traffic is the new currency (PPC):

1/3 people on Earth live in China and India combined, how many of these masses have/will buy ishoes soon hehe

(years and years from now then the lowest end phones have iphone capabilities.. by then .mobi can just upgrade their standardization)

Like the microsoft windows revolution unified computers on a common platform, whether its Fphone, Gphone, Iphone, Zphone, `Phone, - Lowest Common Denominator wins!

.mobi for works on ALL phones!

Kind Regards,

All just yet another opinion - .mobi will work, .mobi wont work..

What Rick Schwartz has to say on .mobi is frankly irrelevant..

There will come a time when .mobi HAS to work...

I like the extension, i am an investor, but really, is thread after thread of clinging onto yet another statement by some obscure individual (albeit a prevalent .com investor) really something that will make .mobi successful?

The point being that "Yes", there are more cell phones than PC's. But cell phones and the net are not exclusively restricted to .mobi. If they were then .mobi would already be the new .com. I know this is a tired old argument, been thrashed out on this forum more times than ive had fried breakfasts (and believe me, ive had a lot of fried breakfasts), but us .mobi investors need to stop rolling out the flag every time theres even the snippet of positive news about the extension...

It only gives more fire to those who oppose it, which then distracts each and every one of us (from both points of view) into a same-old-same-old pointless horns locking exercise. If you invest in .mobi then develop and promote instead of buying/parking and posting pointless pseudo-positive crap here...

i understand the strength of opinion, so im off to put on my flak jacket.. D-:

i think a lot it is just new people signing up to the forums and experiencing or reading things for the first time.

i kinda get tired of seeing the same type of threads.... but only because ive been following this mobi thing for a while.. so cant really hold it against anyone.

I think more folks signing on is a good thing & it's like sports fans going with the winning team.Hey what happens when a sports team doesn't do well?the following gets slim & the opposite is what's obviously happening now, more folks joining in & offering their opinions which I welcome.

Keep the Mobimentum Going !!!!!!!!!!

I think that because dotCom sites are already well established,
seeing the dotCom extension on mobile devices (for Some) will be quite normal in the beginning.

Regardless of the success that dotCom may have on mobile devices, inevitably dotCom
(Mighty and All that it May Be) won't quite be able to get past one very simple equation,
Location, Location, Location.

There's certainly no better Location for an extension than dotMobi on it's own device, Successful & Very Natural Marketing Appeal at it's finest, as Everyone will Soon Certainly See down the Pike. (08/09)

And for that reason I don't believe that dotMobi has any reason to be concerned, for even dotCom was once an Infant.

Now
dotCom has plenty of offspring, all geared towards the same device (The PC) and no other extension can touch it.

The developing of dotMobi is certainly occurring as we speak, specifically geared to it's own device.

Down the Road, No other Extension will touch it.
