In-house GPS or indoor GPS functions just like the outdoor GPS systems we're accustomed to. The huge difference here is that in the near future, thanks to IoT, malls, grocery stores and even your house will be equipped with ihgps systems to help you locate objects.
Imagine going into a mall looking for a certain product. Right now, you'll have to refer to the indoor map that says "you are here" to help you locate the store. Once you're in the store, you'll have to ask the clerk to help you find your product.
In the near future, thanks to IoT devices, your smartphone will be able to detect which mall you're in, navigate you to the store you're looking for and take you straight to your product sitting on the shelf.
Or, if you are in the grocery store, you could use your smartphone to navigate you to find what you're looking for by simply searching the product on the grocery store's app.
Companies like Google and Apple have already been acquiring startups to further develop in-house GPS systems.
