If you want traffic from expired domain, what is the first factor to consider before registering an expired domain?

I don't agree at all.
Alexa rating sucks. I can build a great false Alexa rating in 23 seconds.

Those are two I look at...and it seems to be working out fine. But, there are drop market experts around that know a lot more than I do - perhaps one of them would like to weigh in?

1) Check Inbound links shown by alexa...
2) Check what the domain was used for in the past.. use archive.org
3) Check if the domain is listed in Dmoz and Yahoo.. and Google directories..
4) Also the extension of the domain may be a factor or not..
5) The length of the domain and the price is also important and estimating the kind of return you will get from the domain is something to think about....

How do you know the inbound link? I always get zero results from google when I check the link of an expired domain.
