A friend who sells over $15,000 in domain names monthly, at an average of $300-$350 domain names, advised that if you don't have the best names there are in the market, you need to persuade the end user to buy it from you.
You just can't keep sitting on it with hope that someone would pay $10,000 for them!!

Be active people! No one is coming for your name unless you work hard to sell them yourself!! \

    Don't you agree?

well being domainer is already a hard work and takes a lot of time.. even for those who do not do outbound..

domainers who outbound are still just a tiny minority of all domainers.. I am not saying its good or bad.. just state how things are.

how much time does your friend spend to outbound for 15k/month? how many of those not so great names he holds about...?

When you say outbound do you mean SPAM SPAM SPAM!

Your friend employs a spam center, and pays his employees relatively low wages in order to spam mainly North American, and European business owners with targeted geo+service domains?

What your friend does may help him in the short term, given he needs to register, and delete thousands of worthless domains every year that don't get sold $15K is not the real number, but overall it affects every legit domainer in a negative way across this industry, and the people working to destroy it from the outside as it labels us all in the same manner.

registering each for $9 or less? how many people does he have to contact to make one sale..
if he sells 1 in 20, then he's probably landing in the inboxes of like..500-1000 people? to get one buyer. (by sending at least 25 emails per domain).

I would disagree with this. If you don't outbound, chances of surviving in domaining, starting now, without huge capital are very very less. Hence, outbound becomes a major force in success for such domainers.

Also, if you reach the right end user and end up selling almost 5-10% of your registered names, you are trying to create a demand and fulfill it with what you have to offer.

It is spam if you send the mails randomly. For targeted leads, I believe that it is alright!!
What does a legit domainer do? Buy and hold to negotiate if he gets an offer? Or a legit domainer started in 90s and 2000s or someone who came with a bag of cash in 2012 and started buying all the good names!!

Many such spammers even include email addresses via Google Groups without your permission (by default this is allowed by Google) until you reconfigure your GG settings...
My incoming spam volume dropped a few times after I fixed this hole in Google Groups.

Only junk names need to be sold in this way, good names will get inquiries.

Think about value of your time, might be better to get a job as door to door seller.

Targeted how? Did they invite (or request) your email?

You cannot reach people who (almost always) avoid email, since "people like you" destroyed email many years ago.
    Happy New Year Spammer :)

Oh, well... I believe excepting Arpit 131, all others members are jumping into conclusions
and not working smart and/or ignoring legitimate hacks to contact end user.

I've no working people for me and I sell lots of DN in that range Without Spamming.
To do that, lots of work out of the sand box have to be done...
I simple contact DN Owners, Business, Site Owners, etc., with a personal email including
their Full Name offering my Related, Applicable DN to them just once, period.
Obviously, complete info of my self is included.

Maximum number of people own average names and have an average budget to start with. If they do not do outbound, they will never make it in this industry.
I think if done the right way, outbound is good too!! In face, necessary at times.

Please don't namecall, my friend!! I have just shared a point of view and I believe it is necessary. Also, I believe that people with average names who do not reach out to prospective clients are just lazy, more than anything else!! Going by that way, any advertisement you see which do not pertain to you is a spam!!

That's nice! I guess that answers your question @~ The 34 Year Buzz!!

How many mails per day do your friend's workers send?

Does he do any market research on his hand regs? I'd guess he just regs on a hunch.

Does he only deal with .coms?

The are plenty of ways to be active if your trying to rid your $low $xxx domains. The other idea is just buy better domains. A real strategy to just spam is to build a marketplace. Add the keywords to target the end users surfers. Build content to your landing pages and marketplace. Content brings visitors they might not all be domain buyers on your landing pages but your marketplace will benefit with reciprocal linking. Landing page scripts providers benefit doing this. If your only have second best domains then you should be moving onto next niche. Optimize as much as you can to get your niches generic traffic. If all of this sits in the background and not found from index it will still bring traffic.

I know less is best and too much info isn't positive. I have gone against that for now and will be making changes where buyer can see more information apon sign or found only though search engines but not navigated from landing page without contact info. Hoping to build a second marketplace this year which will replace premiumnamedomain thinking of developing domainused and relevantname with a hugedoman inspired approach but I had to start somewhere with content. I have gone a bit further offering a lot of tools for webmasters free. I am seriously considering being the end user on my domains but need to decide on what i want to do. Right now my site is a functioning mess.

Going a bit off topic but I think the domain should bring the visitor as this is what your selling. Email I feel is only good on the exact buyer eg: somedomain.com targeting somedomain.net with your better name. There are some that are burning a sale or chance of a decent profit in opening email.

    Hi Arpit131,

Are those "targeted leads" expecting your email?
To be very clear did they opt-in to something?

If "Yes", then you are correct.
If "No" then it Is Spam (period), there are no grey areas here. Spam is Spam, and Spam sucks!

Most people lose money in domains, because the names are worth nothing. People talk about out bound (and development) when they get no inquiries on bad names.

Don’t waste time on bad domains, it is throwing good money after bad.
