Simple question NP!

If Line.com sold for $118,000 in 2012? Then how much is Line.Bet?

I think I've mentioned that I was lucky enough to Register Line.Bet and Roll.Bet

Just today someone contacted me with interest in both. I checked DNpric.es and it shows Line.com sold for $118,000 back in 2012.

http://dnpric.es/?dn=line.com

It's 2016 now. so what would the value of Line.com be now?
and
how (if if can) correlate with the potential value of Line.bet?

Line of course refers to "Money Line" which is a huge keyword in the betting industry referring to sports betting I think?

someone beat me to MoneyLine.bet but luckily or maybe not I snagged Line.Bet.

so can anyone help here?

does the price of Line.com have an viable bearing on the price of Line.Bet? I need some info soon because I told this potential buyer to give me a day or so to get back to him. Please help?

I know I can't sell .bet domains yet since I just got it. and I know I will need to wait 3-4 months at least. so no need to mention it. Thanks.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
I see. yet "beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and ultimately the buyer sets the price. correct? we've seen it plenty of times mentioned here. Ridiculous domains that make you say "HUH???" and we all moan to ourselves why didn't I think of that? lol

so are you saying if I simply show this potential buyer this line.com sales back in 2012 for $118,000 that there is no way this interested party wouldn't accept it as a reasonable assumption that if Line.com sold for $118,000 that Line.Bet should too or maybe $10,000 to $30,000 less at least?

I mean I'm all for .com's but most 4 character .com's are taken before I was born probably (maybe not lol)

I mean hey "unproven" the same can be said about .com's back in 1980's...I even recall Bill Gates himself saying that the "internet is just a fad". and he's the biggest geek there ever was! lol

if even geniuses can be wrong? then (insert the rest here) lol

thanks for everyone who has contributed to this thread. I appreciate it. I'm rolling the dice here. wish me luck NP.

You're way off.

My bet is your inquiry is an appraisal scam. I'd be very surprised if anyone wanted this.

Really, what are the odds one goes out and registers some off the wall gtld and bam!
A potential buyer contacts at once?
Just email him back and say you want $25,000.
Bet the answer will be:
My client is willing to pay that but he needs proof it is worth $25,000.
Please go here and get an appraisal.

it wasn't set in stone. I have no idea what price betfiend.com is worth. it was just used as an example for the point. ok I will. no guts no glory. so let me ask you. if I do come back with a fat check. will you be the first to congratulate me? :D

If you come back with a verifiable 25k sale I will give you an additional $100 to buy your next lotto tickets with.

This domain has no value, imo. Unproven extension with a week keyword.

Sales happen in pretty much every extension. A few scattered sales still doesn't mean there is a market. But if there are no sales at all then there is no market.
This is not an all-purpose extension. It has a narrow purpose. There is money in gambling, but the problem is that the pool of end users is limited, that means very few possible buyers for those new strings.

In fact, saying that there is money in gambling doesn't mean much domaining-wise.

There is money in adult, travel.
But .xxx .travel are not doing well at all.

Forgetting dollar value:

Line.com can be so many things (and awesome branding)

Line.Bet Has to be betting odds. (Which the internet is full of, and people want them from a reputable and early source)

lol ok ok I get your point but.....if Betfiend.com is $100,000 and mine is just $1000. isn't that a deal? especially if you can find some kind of reference to it online? cmon bro there's so much MADE UP domain names out there to not get this point. These days ANYTHING goes basically.

Please our kiddies? their brains are like mush from all the media? and yet they are creating multi billion dollar companies with venture capital funding?

It's no longer a world of SMART people. the phones are SMART not the people. lol

Betfiend.com is not worth 100k. Your valuations are insane. Please don't quote me anymore. I don't want to be brought back to this thread when you have your mind set. The point of this thread is moot since you don't listen to those who do this for a living. Enjoy .betting your money away. Might as well put 1k on the inside and cross your fingers. You'd have better luck.

short answer, no

for a sale that happened 4 years ago, why would that increase value for just the .bet extension and not for all other extensions?

@Avtar629 You can sell a domain right away but you can't transfer the domain to another registrar in 60 days.

ehhh that's my bet. my risk no one else's.

I have to say though that the comments and reactions here seems pretty well to be honest suspicious to me and one sided. I figured it would be at least 50-50 my side or against me.

It made me think for a second?

"hey all the people on here have their own "interests"

they can't give positive promos on new GTLD's because well fact? most in this thread? have many many .com's and for them to give positive feedback on .bet or any other GTLD's would be the equivalent of domain suicide yes? far fetched or realistic?

i know that people here HATE .bet ok fine. but seriously. is the VALUE of LINE.COM is it because of the .COM? or is it really the WORD

LINE itself?

isn't that what we domainers all do every day? find that WORD and register it?

aren't there actual SALES of .info and .net versions of .com's?

so would it really be far fetched that .bet would have some value?

each and every domainer who has poo poo-ed on my domains at some point bought and sold .info and .net's. admit it. you have right?

so it's kinda hypocritical to say that .bet is garbage and with the same hand buy and sell .info's and .net's?

I personally believe that all the ANTI-GTLD people are afraid of the DILUTION of their own .com investments and it would be in their best interest to poo poo on Gtld domain registration everytime it is mentioned. especially if it's mentioned in a doman forum such as this whose discussions are open to the public via Google.

Every successful person in history followed the road less traveled. I GET IT guys. I have .com's too but I'm not going to make it my Modus Operandi to go around poo poo-ing on other people's domain registrations just to protect my assets.

to each his own yes? agree to disagree?

I'll do what I have always planned on doing and sell these domains. Haters only motivate me. lol It is my fuel so please keep it coming. and I will thank you for it as always.

LOL. I'm out. This is stupid.

Just to cut to the chase: it's another worthless TLD. There can always be a few exceptions, but your names won't sell. You are comparing apples to cucumbers.

•••
Only people who will make descent money with these new extensions will be the registrars! There are way too many !! Sure there are a few strong keyword domains that will sell, just like the lottery a few might win. Instead of spending money on these worthless extensions I would rather spend an investment on a solid .com domain.. Wishful thinking is not a smart business strategy, might happen, could happen, may well happen, soon to happen, well the chances of new extensions picking up steam might never happen . com has a proven track record. my opinion only.

no no see it's someone I reached out to myself. I reached out to one of the big online casino developers in Europe and wouldn't you know it? they replied. although I'm assuming THIS was the domain they wanted since it's "my best" I thought. maybe it was one of the other ones in the list of 30? lol

my bad. out of the list this was the one my eyes zeroed in one. he didn't really say which one he wanted. I gave him just a random list. and he said he wanted a price. as of yet I'm wanting on him to let me know which one he wants. lol that's the entire story.

so scratch that idea that it's some appraisal scam out of left field.

You think it's more likely you're going to see 5-figures from a terrible 1-word .bet? Come on. Wake up.

yes I know? but we live in a world now where the kiddies are creating brand new bs words and google actually has definitions for them now. and domains are being created right this minute with such made up words because the correct grammar words are TAKEN and super expensive.

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=feen
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=feen+or+fiend
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=feenin
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=feening

FEENING means "Craving, wanting really badly" So now you know -FEENING means "Craving, wanting really badly" - don't thank us. YW! What does FEENING mean? FEENING is an acronym, abbreviation or slang word that is explained above where the FEENING definition is given.

wow you guys actually got me to bother researching FEEN. here's one Irish! FEEN=MAN so BETMAN? lol

feen
/fiːn/
noun
1.
(Irish, dialect) an informal word for man

You're right. Those who can't spell always have 5-figures laying around.

There is one member on here that says online gambling is now illegal? Where did he get his fact?

You cant online gamble legally in USA. few exception like inter state Nevada. You used to be able to gamble, like sports betting, but that was zapped

"beauty is in the eye of the beholder" and ultimately the buyer sets the price. correct?
"Set the price" yes, but not force a sale. The domain name has to be wanted by someone at the set price for a sale. So you can set a price as much as you want, $500000, $5 billion, even at $50 does not mean it will sell.

we've seen it plenty of times mentioned here. Ridiculous domains that make you say "HUH???" and we all moan to ourselves why didn't I think of that? lol
"Plenty of times" out of millions of sales = very low occurrence. People win the lottery, but the chances are incredibly slim, it's simply because the number of people entering is so great that by the law of averages someone wins.

Same with domain sales. Out of the millions sold regularly there will be some crazy sales. Not just the rare one for a ridiculous high price, but also some great names sold way undervalue too. this is just the nature of the beast and really has no bearing on general values at all. They're oddities, rarities etc, and for that reason are to be taken with a pinch of salt and not shoehorned into the general state and value of other domain names out of desperation for some dodgy name and TLD to be worth money. There is no relevance.

One day the internet may boom so much that .com is precious and premium and out of the reach of most businesses, and everyone turns to "any" TLD. But if it happens, that day not only won't be in our lifetimes, the values of "any TLD" will be very low because there are thousands to choose from. Why have SomeKeywords.XYZ when I can have SomeKeywords.site, or whatever for cheaper?

You are hoping, like many, that these TLDs will suddenly be worth a lot of money, and they won't. Some premium words always are, like Casino.xyz etc, but those are valuable for a specific reason and have no bearing on the general value of basic/normal keywords in that TLD.

yes I know? but we live in a world now where the kiddies are creating brand new bs words and google actually has definitions for them now.
This does not make a domain name valuable! Kiddies and teens using buzz words (etc) on Facebook and whatever are not businesses wanting to set up a brand and sell products and/or services on a commercial level. They do not care about buzz words.

Yes, some sites might, but they're very rare and usually do not have large funds so the domain value is low because all potential buyers wallets are low.

I'm saying this because you have limited time in life, and limited funds, and so you should consider both those to be precious and very finite and this spend them wisely. Some TLDs are simply a gamble, people betting with hope, and hope does not alone make a sale or a good domain name ;) Stick to what actually sells and you will make money. Invest in future things, sure, but see some trends first, not go for pure pot luck in something that has no past or notable potential future yet. Or, take a risk with your domain names but make sure you know it's a gamble and hope that they take off in the future, nothing more and thus no value at the moment.

but but but.....everyone is poo poo-ing on the idea of registering such domains?
Personally I want to sell domains, not be a domain collector. If you want to sell domains you need to buy the right inventory. Makes sense ?

If you need to resort to lame scare tactics it speaks volume about the quality of your domains. What you can expect now is not an offer but a letter from their lawyers.

they just came out on March 3? too soon. show off. but how many did you get "stuck" with? the question wasn't how much you made but how much numerics did you get stuck with? seems like a touchy subject. you don't have to answer if you don't want to. it's alright.

Bro, they're all gone. You are clearly too dense to understand this business. Even if I got suck with 200 I still made 5-figures. That math works for me.

I've been in sales for over 20 years, you can sell anything for any dollar amount. You have to build value as to why it will bring the dollar amount that your asking for it.

best of luck mate, don't mind the trash you will get here just go with your guts you own a premium domain if not you wouldn't have been contacted early.

if you think the "potential" is that naive and gullible, then why didn't you just do that from the beginning?

imo...

You should get Domain.bet and put those up for a bet :), but on a more serious note. Can you get 30-35k for Line.bet? Yes - just like someone can say Can you win jackpot on a lottery? Yeah, but probability of that happening is slim to none. I for one wouldn't reg this domain even for a reg fee.
