If Humans Evolved From Apes...

If humans evolved from apes, why are there still apes?

Here's one answer:

Humans did not evolve from apes, gorillas or chimps. We are all modern species that have followed different evolutionary paths, though humans share a common ancestor with some primates, such as the African ape.

To say we are more "evolved" than our hairy cousins is just wrong. (See how long you last naked in the Congo Heartland, and then tell me who's got the evolutionary upper hand.)

Saw this the other day also, I just told the guy handing me the leaflet he should have listened more in science class.

He also said "God doesn't believe in Atheists"

Firstly, I said I was agnostic and secondly, I said "If atheists don't think God exists, then they don't care that he doesn't believe in them, because he doesn't exist in their minds".

It is entirely possible that something evolves and the ancestor species still remains though. Evolution is just mutations of an original copy after all.

When European explorers discovered African tribes hundreds of years ago. They described them as savages and they noted that most of them wore no clothes or wore very little clothes. They also noted they used primitive tools and weapons. Is that the only advantage they had over apes a few hundred years ago?

Monkey Man

I'd like to see an ape, gorilla or chimp post a message here at Namepros. I, on the other hand, can post a message and act like a monkey anytime I feel like it.

Actually, chimps have been found to make weapons and tools and even to wage war.. they also find that they naturally communicate by gestures.. pretty interesting.

So humans did evolve from apes...

Evolution doesn't mean the other species completely disappears.

Ill have one, just let me get down from this tree

I often think about how disadvantaged we'd be in the wild if we didnt have weapons, were pathetic really, compared to most 'animals'

Natural selection is the theory stating that favorable traits will yield more offspring. AKA if for some reason, you are a little bit taller, you can reach the banana tree better and thus have more babies. Obviously, it's much more complicated and spans across hundreds of thousands of behavior and adaptive traits.

Clearly, humans have evolved from apes in that they have less hair, bigger brain capacity, etc.

Thus, humans are evolving to become taller, stronger, whatever, from primates. However, the primates who we evolved from are still alive, as they are good at... well... living. The "in-between," the "missing link" is what couldn't survive.

By the way, why is this in the domain discussion forum?

Easy answer: God created us.

That answer can too turn as complicated as the answer of evolution. They both seem like simple answers until many questions come to light.

There will however never be a 100% and fool proof answer. Not from humans at least.

No, I'm pretty sure we evolved from apes. Take this as an example: My friend, when looked at from the side, looks like an ape, and his legs are definitely as hairy as an apes legs!

Mind you that evoloution, Darwins theory and big ban theories are just theories. Just like scientists believe that religion is just theory. None are base on facts just studies.

IF science is so exact, why did the Carbon Dating change so many times? Why is there no cure for Cancer and other big time diseases? Science is no more exact than Religion. Hence why the big discussion between Science and Relgion. Why there is always such a debate between the two. Neither proving or disproving the other.

IF you really thing about it, Science and Religion coincide. Neither acknowledging the other. Which is such a pity. Always an arguement to prove what? and nothing proving on either side.

Both Sides need the other.

Hence recent recent studies saying that those who pray are more likely to rapidly heal in medical surgery or related incidences. As opposed to those who didnt pray. Some will say mind over matter, but ny is the answer. Both Science and religion conicide. But deny each others existence. Such a pity that that each do not recognize the other in the full realm of its truthfulness.
