I'm not so sure.
Actually it would be a good idea for M$ to leave the browser market. Their software is a disaster, hundreds of bugs and vulnerabilities, it has become a liability for them. Now that they got what they wanted (kill competition) they don't see too much incentives for really improving it (if they ever wanted).
More and more users are migrating to alternate browsers. Even if there is a ie12 it is far-fetched IMO. Perhaps in 5 years you will start getting some type-in
In the meantime I would say reg fee. When there is ie13, the name will be worth reg fee again so the window of opportunity is limited :imho:
