Ideas for monetizing traffic to a spoof site with content that could be libelous

I have a site that is a spoof site, feigning hatred for a greatly respected figure in Canadian history.
This person is still alive, and although the site is CLEARLY a ridiculous joke, it could I suppose technically be considered libelous.

Ive been parking the site for a while, but traffic (used to be about 1k uniques/month) dropped off and I find the few clicks I get arent worth having the site parked, so Ive opted to put the old content back up.

Adsense wont allow me to put any ads on a page considered negative towards another person, but do you guys know of any ad servers who would allow me to place ads on the site.

Like I said, the site is 100% a parody (although some people do think its real when they go to it), but as far as I know the content could still be considered libelous.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.

It really depends on the specifics.

Public figures enjoy much less protection against defamation than private individuals.

But that's American law. Don't know how different Canadian law is. Also, my brief opinion comment is NOT legal advice, hardly.

You advertising choices are limited - most advertisers don't want to touch such content - and for good reason.

You may be able to find individuals who may want to advertise on the website though - similar beliefs, another parody site etc.

And a Canadian who is still alive that is greatly admired? Gretzky? LOL

I don't have any suggestions for advertisers on that page, but I would strongly suggest you put it back up as a site. The heavy traffic is worth something even if you cant advertise to it directly. You can always use it to guide traffic to a site that is acceptable.

As for an alternate idea how about having a t-shirt made. Find a good artist, and a local printer to do the hard part. Make up a tshirt that has the jist of your joke and the domain name on it. Sell them for a couple of bucks profit each. Maybe give away a few to put the the idea out there. You'll make more from a sale than you would from a click, and people will be paying you to advertise for your site. :) Of course it involves a bit of real work. Maybe an hour or two a week shipping shirts in padded mailers. It also entails a bit of risk as there is initial overhead having the shirts printed.
