Some more information as to why I think this has good potential:

NEW BUILDINGS IN REYKJAVÍK

2015, the Office of the Building Inspector in Reykjavík approved 57,600 m2 of building volume for new guest accommodations and restaurants. Most were approved in 2013, or 22,000 m2.
In 2014, a building volume of 18,000 m2 was approved and 14,000 m2 in 2015.

FOREIGN TOURISTS TO ICELAND

I hate to say it, but I'm not seeing a lot of value here. Iceland is a very small, sparsely populated island. Even if there is an increase in tourism, most people are going to be staying short-term in a hotel, not signing a lease for an apartment. Sorry, but this definitely can't compare to ParisApartments.com.

Thanks for the feedback, I was seeing it as realistically being on the lower side of that list (with the other countries) but showing potential maybe? Due to the steep increase in tourism and increase in infrastructure.

I think if you developed it, it could have some potential. I would say it could be a pretty nice site if you set it up so that when you go there you can search by the 4-5 (?) top/biggest cities...and see a selection of apartments in each of those areas. But the problem is, who is going to list their apartments on there? Unless the site gets popular, most landlords aren't going to bother wasting their time uploading a listing to an unknown site.

Iceland being a small, sparsely-populated country, the pool of buyers is limited. The good and the bad:
  • furnished apartments (or "flats") are indeed rented out to tourists for short periods, just like hotel rooms
  • the number of tourists to Iceland is always increasing, in fact there are many more tourists than inhabitants on a yearly basis
  • icelandapartments.is has been registered to a lady from Reykjavík since 2012, but the domain name is currently unused. She could be the 'obvious' end user but probably doesn't need the domain at all right now.
  • Those domain names are often city-oriented, rather than nationwide: reykjavikapartments is taken in .com/.net/.org/.is but only the .is is developed
  • There are about 25 .is domains that contain the string 'apartment', examples: 101reykjavikapartments.is 101reykjavikapartments.is apartmentsreykjavik.is cityapartments.is luxuryapartments.is icelandicapartments.is (developed, redirects to https://www.icelandicapartments.com/ :)) reykjavikapartments.is...
I found only 5 reported sales with the string Iceland:
Code:

VisitIceland net $2,583 Nov 07 Sedo 2 12 N N http://VisitIceland.net DNJournal
IcelandTour com $2,838 Feb 05 SnapNames 2 11 N N http://IcelandTour.com DNJournal

It's the kind of domain that you should buy if you're ready to develop it, but not expect a quick sale. Good luck.

Thanks very much for the feedback, looking into these now! My main reason for thinking that Iceland could have an advantage over more specific location names is due to the population of the island being so small, so if someone was selling apartments in locations other than Reykjavik, then it could benefit their business more due to there being so many places in the island with a lower population that it's easier to just group it all as Iceland. I also thought that Iceland would be better for location for foreign buyers than more specific location names, due to the difficulty many people have with pronouncing names in Icelandic.

... due to the difficulty many people have with pronouncing names in Icelandic.
Ahah :) I like the way you think :)
Well I suppose they will go round the difficulty by using branded names like evasapartments.is or 37apartments.is or nestapartments.is etc instead of location + property-related keyword. There is plenty of choice when you're creative :)

Arguably Kirkjubæjarklausturapartments or Fáskrúðsfjörðurproperties could be too much to handle for foreigners.
