Iced Tea & Tea Bags

I absolutely LOVE iced tea and drink it constantly.. I love mine very sweet and ice cold. Each night before I go to bed I throw several tea bags into a picher of water and set it in the refrigerator over night so I can enjoy some tea the next day.. but I wondered what was the origin of iced tea?

By 1904 the United States was ready for the world to see her development at the St. Louis World's Fair. Trade exhibitors from around the world brought their products to America's first World's Fair. One such merchant was Richard Blechynden, a tea plantation owner. Originally, he had planned to give away free samples of hot tea to fair visitors. But when a heat wave hit, no one was interested. To save his investment of time and travel, he dumped a load of ice into the brewed tea and served the first "iced tea". It was (along with the Egyptian fan dancer) the hit of the Fair.

Four years later, Thomas Sullivan of New York developed the concept of "bagged tea". As a tea merchant, he carefully wrapped each sample delivered to restaurants for their consideration. He recognized a natural marketing opportunity when he realized the restaurants were brewing the samples "in the bags" to avoid the mess of tea leaves in the kitchens.

Isn't Thai iced tea just iced tea with coconut milk?

I don't think so. It actually doesn't taste like iced tea at all. :) Hard to explain the taste.

Whenever I go eat thai or vietnamese, I always order thai iced tea or thai iced cofee. :)

I know the Thai restaurant around the corner puts cows milk in it. But the distinct flavor of it is great. I also know of boba shops who put the tapoica pearls(boba) in the drink.

Mmmmm boba is great and I forgot to mention that earliar. IF you like iced teas or iced coffee. Than you would like boba drinks. Another great way to drink certain teas or flavored drinks is the boba drinks.
