Not everyone was pleased with the move. Webmaster Jens Mulling of Star Wars fan site, www.ookie.es, condemned the move saying that the www was an integral part of their site identity. "Who's going to go to ookie.es?"

HAHAHA! Oh my. Ingenoius use of the www there... never thought of that

this is fake, right? I don't see how it would make any sense to do that or why it even matters. But it's late and I'm gullible so, someone please shed some light on this rumor.

He he he, about time someone pointed that out. :)

I posted this because there's a "serious discussion" about it in another forum.
But nobody seemed to notice that tidbit at the bottom until I pointed it out to
them.

Don't get worked up, folks! But sorry to those who did anyway.

So...

Say you own:

wwwyahoo.com
wwwgoogle.com
wwwforums.com
etc., etc.

You're going to be fined $10k a pop?

Nevermind - just noticed Barefoottech's findings.
Thank God.

I wouldn't be surprised if they did this for real in the future though. My mate nearly got scammed because of a wwwbigname.com site misleading him.

I almost got faked out the other day when I forgot to include the dot in a subdomain address and landed on a similar site. <-tricky, tricky. I caught it immediately, but because the subdomain that I was looking for was dealing w/ financial info, it made me check twice when I did land at the right site, because the company also had the 3rd level term as a 2nd level domain and redirected to it.
(ie 3rd.[example].com -> 3rd.com). Helps one to remember to cross the t's and dot the dots and to stay clear of sensitive info while inebriated.
