i want to start a directory

I want to start a directory site like dmoz .... I want to create categories and links.
How can i start , Is there any site that gives readymade site so that i can download it and make some changes and publish as my site.(for forums we have phpbb, mybb).

You must use directory scripts if you dont program. Try searching at hotscripts.com and you mind find a good free directory script. There will be options in the script where ppl could add their site to the directory.

I concur. Get a directory script and you will need hosting with mysql database.

I tried phplinkdirectory.com
i downloaded and uploaded files on server

After i run my index.php

this error is seen.I have uploaded all files.

PHP Version >= 4.1 (4.4.2)
