I own a famous dead persons .org name - Should I worry?

I scooped up the .org version of a dead guitarists name. One of the most influential gutiarists of all time. But I've been kind of worried. I'm using it as a blog. With his bio, tips and everything. I try to post daily.

I'm worried that his family or some lawyers can take it away from me. Especially if I try to earn revenue from it with ads on the blog. Should I worry about this? Can it happen?

If it's Jimi Hendrix then I'd drop it right away. Search the internet about how his estate went after the .com version back in 2000 and how ruthless they can be. Of course, I think now they are wrapped up in legal batteles between Hendrix family members so you may be ok for a while, if that is the name. :hehe:

Never mind I just did whois and it shows that the Hendrix estate already owns the .org, so that can't be it.

keep doing it. think you'll be fine. especially on the .org gives some integrity. the relatives etc may even be grateful.

imo unless someone like elvis or hendrix, i doubt any families would or could come after name imho. don't take what i say as gospel, just telling you what i would do. if you are doing them proud keep doing it. if is an ibnteresting good, honest site it will also get traffic and being on a .org the search engines will respect

then again if you make money but spend it all on charity you could be fine...

If this person feel disturb by taking his name for the domain he/she will probably communicate with you via white noise. :ghost:
