I want to buy a domain or two that makes $100-150 a day from PPC due to unique type-ins with no TM issues. How much should I be willing to spend and how many months of stats should I ask for? I have an idea of what to expect but I would like to hear from others that have either bought these types of domains or currently own them. Specifically, a price they would expect for them, even if they are not for sale. I just don't want to get burned. Please PM if you don't want to post.

Thanks,

Make sure you go to a GOOD lawyer who can draw you up with contractual safeguards. If you are dropping that kind of money on a domain, you should be able to afford $2k in legal fees.

Better, if I was SELLING a name that I legitimately thought had a chance in hell of continuing (Or GROWING) those kind of numbers, I'd be looking at 4 - 6 years revenue +/- a constant for the associated risk factors.
AKA - If it's a "fad" topic, then - some constant. If it's a "finance" topic or an old standby (Sex ;) ), then + some constant for my own risk in giving up the domain too early.
Somewhere near $300-$400K
I do NOT have a domain that routinely sees anywhere near those numbers, however :)

PPC revenues are not a safe bet. PPC is highly subsceptible to falling apart due to click fraud. Safer to invest in good domain names. IMO of course :)

All of you gave some great info! Gonna spread some rep if I can. Maybe I'll start by getting a domain that makes around $10-$20 a day and take it from there. Now if I could only find the PERFECT domain.......Easier said than done. Fonzie, getting a lawyer to oversee the details is sound advice and I will go there if need be. I think I can take it from here....Thanks Namepros dudes!

Well of course - In a perfect world , You'd love to get it for as little as possible ....

But in todays market - and assuming everything is easily verified over a long term basis (Income/Traffic etc ...) Don't expect to pay less than 2-3 years income for it at the least. Some out there will still find some on a quick sale deal for a years income - But don't count on it ;)

It is a dangerous game to play now a days - But I'm not that scared of PPC really. I know from experience a decent name making "X" amount of dollars parked with "X" amount of traffic can do a bit better if developed. There are some parking companies out there paying a decent percentage of the cut - But most will never beat placing your own ad code on a dev'd site IMO. If anything scares me about this part of the industry - it is the Traffic. Even with access to the best stats out there , there is always a chance they can hide the true Traffic source.

So just be careful :tu:
