please help me! this is my first site. it is for a local surfing dealership, my girlfriends dad! it needs to look pro and any opinions would be great. it is only a layout, so there has no info on it yet. use the inverted site link and the famous wax link to get a few ideas.

alright bud, here goes. Everything looks great except the background. the font. and the ::: before everything.

*sticker* excellent layout though,. oh and loose the marquee and the gradients.

Hey the design looks great, but just one thing. Like insomnia said... loose the cheap layouts. It makes it look un professional, and kinda corny. Everything else is great though. I like how when you click on the links, the things above the main body move from side to side. Makes it look like flash ... kinda... keep up th good work, and post the finished product. I want to see

the gradiant on the left side looks a little lined up. Looks a little uneven with what you have made on the right side gradiant. All in all great design.

If I had jasc installed I'd show you some awesome ways to create textures. Textures is always better to use then gradients. That one is a personal prefernce. But I agree, post the finished and let us see

go with the blue and create a logo. Rid yourself of the background like I said and then you get another sticker.

thanks guys, you have all been great. i will try out some textures instead of the gradients if you think that would be better but im gonna have some problems so look out for more posts. the problem is that i have never written a website in my life or used photoshop, so the logo might be a problem as well. if you think i should change the layout can you please give me some ideas. thanks.

p.s. could you all give preference on the black or the white. its only a novelty but i would like to no.

You're asking alot of yourself. It looks alright for your first site, but I wouldn't say it looks professional.

Suggestions:
- Get rid of the splash page.
- Look at redoing your buttons. At least the spacing (genesis in particular).
- Choose a font people will have. I see the default because I haven't got BankGothic Lt BT.
- Get a nice font for the logo. Free fonts: http://www.dafont.com/en/
- Get a colour scheme you like and scrap the wishy washy colours and gradients.
- Lose the tiled bg image and the marquee for the address.
- And there's more...

You could get away with that layout, but it'd need to look better.

mt you are going to drive yourself mad if you keep up this perfection ideal. do you have paintshop pro or photoshop? You can creat an awesome logo with jasc. Once I get everything on my computer fixxed (as recently I have been hit with a crash) I'll download a few things and show you exactly what I mean if you don't mind.

insomnia you r a god! cheers for being constructive. i have adobe photoshop 7.0. any time you want any of the pics just say and i will send them on. im not trying to create a perfection ideal, i just thought that the other forum was a little bit harsh on me. i was scared that everyone else felt the same after i had worked so hard.

No need to send me anything. I'll just download the entire site. As a favor to you I'll run it through dreamweaver and play around with it a little. I'm not underminding your abilities in any way nor am I trying to take over. All I am doing is a favor to help you see what could be better through a fresh pair of eyes.
