You can use Google Spreadsheets :) Don't need to install anything and works from any computer with internet

Yep OpenOffice is the best alternative that runs on almost any Operating System :) it is completely free and open source which is great. Very nice, I use it all the time and recommend it.

OpenOffice is good so long as your computer is up to scratch I found. And ofcourse Google Spreadsheets is only for the basic stuff, but nonetheless, very good at it (And available anywhere too).

I recommend both. They're both free and easy to use.

I prefer KOffice, I don't know why. Even though OpenOffice is good, I still prefer KOffice when I use Linux (KDE).

OpenOffice just slows down your computer if you leave it open for too long (like 6+ hours), so while it's an incredible program, just make sure to close it from time to time :)

Not on a KDE box this week (Yep, I switch about that often :)), testing out the new gNome.

Have used KOffice before, but it was a very lite program, and lacked many features compared to OO.

Open Office gets my vote, just make sure you save your file with a .xls at the end; otherwise, anyone with the actual Excel program will not be able to read it. The same is true if you use it as a word processor - save those files as .doc.
