I have the .com and .net what else?

Hi, I am new to the board and was hoping for some advice. I already have picked the domain name for my business in the .com and .net extensions. I was wondering what others should I get. I was fiquring on the .org, .info, .biz and maybe .us. I was wondering if you think I am wasting my money on these or are they a good investment. Thank you all for any comments.

Well another thing that might impact your decision is if your company name is copyrighted. Is your company name copyrighted?

I use to snatch .com .net .org for basically all of mine, now I pretty much just grab .com & .net. I guess it depends on what type of site it is and how much extra dough you wanna spend to secure every extension if needed? If business site I would say .com .net .org for sure going past those is your call and depends on your budget.

Should have said if you really want to go broke. There are over 200 TLDs out there and more become available weekly. Some still cost $50+ per year. I think in most cases having .com .net and .org should be plenty. Those are basically the only natural type in extesions with the exception of .de .ru .fr .co.uk .co.au and .co.jp if you're looking internationally.

If you plan to Develop under the name - I'd definitely grab .info and .Us (If Applicable that is) as well -

But if you are planning on just Selling the Bus/Site ... Don't get carried away -
Also depends on what "Type" of business you are planning ~

For internet related business I always choose the matching .net for my domain. There are other domains where .org is more appropiate, in those cases I buy the .net too (you never know).

Get the .com .net .org out there, cause these are the 3 basics ones
Then consider where will your business be, say if it's in Canada, you may want to register the .ca as well, Good luck!
