One particular gripe I have at the moment is the lack of content rich posts..

Dont know if its just me but when i click "new posts" its just loaded with sales and advertising threads.

This is fine (and maybe its just me, like I say) but imho we do have a slight glitch in our VB configuration which could be improved. I know we borrowed the revenue sharing script from Digitalpoint but what they also do there, which I think we should mirror, is disabling the priviledge for new members to start an advertising or sales thread until they have racked up ~25 posts.

They also dont allow new users a custom signature until a certain number of posts has been achieved..

If we did this, it would help stop the spammers from joining our fine forum - for all they do is post and post - and only in their own sales threads.. :(

Well.. this way they could easily spam 25 posts & get to the sales forum.

And some people who aren't hard-core domainers, just have a nice name to sell may just join to sell off their names.

For eg, am an active member at NP & not active at digitalpoint forums. I tried posting a sales sometime long back at DP. It said, i needed 25 posts. So I was lazy to make 25 posts & dont posts any of my sales threads there.

I guess its just fine if they join to seriously sell their names.

JMO.

Although a minimum requirement of posts for advertising is a good idea, it has its own drawbacks too, as noted by Smooth. Perhaps the posts should only be visible after approved by a special moderator, who makes sure the content is relevant, and not 'spammy' in nature. Instead of individually reporting every thread which is being done now, a centralized approval-based system by staff might be more efficient?

Good idea but say there are 50 people posting to get up to 25 posts, 50 x 25 is alot of posts to check, i think it would take way to long to do.
