HiI am a newbie please respond to my question. Why do domain investors often purchase the same domain name in different extensions (like .net, .org, .xyz, etc.) even when the .com version already exists?
Thanks in Advance
Thanks for your valuable opinionHi
most of those registrations could be seen as speculative, depending on the keywords.
single words like game, casino, sex, etc. will get registered in every extension, while some other words or phrases will have less.
it's the "hope" that the next buyer in these categories will choose one of their names, in a different extension, because the .com is either in use or the price is too high for most buyers.
having the alternative, with same keywords, is the prime motivator.
imo...
As long as the domain name uses generic keywords, it is not considered a violation or infringement . like one word "love" "dynamic" "house"Is not there any trademark infringement issue if I register a domain name in another extension?
