A name, product or hack is being sold on a forum/website. the seller says " make an offer"

and you reply in email or pm with a $$ that you think the item is worth.

and the seller's reply is " what the $%#&...it is worth more than that. i spent hours(years) coding or designing it or other degrading answer"

these traders a bad, why swear at at customer who offers a price that he think is right:(

after all the request was "make an offer" !
i think this type of seller are nutty!! 8-X and their salesmanship wacko!

better put price as $XXX and then negotiate B-)

why waste peoples time pm'ing up and down?:(

Not the best way to reply perhaps but I find often Resellers will low ball you, try to get whatever your selling for next to nothing, I guess it is the whole idea, buy low, sell high... after getting so many low ball offers for something you feel is worth more does start to get to you after a while.

That's true, but I think some sellers need to show more professionalism, and respond in a more "appropriate" way, in which they can explain to the person who made the offer, that their offer was too low, without ruining relations.

Otherwise, the seller is just losing a potential customer for future sales.

My two cents:)!

Make an offer is okay but they should give a range of what they are looking for.

That's why I try and ask for a range... that exact thing just happened to me but at least the guy was nice about it. But still, I'm shooting in the dark when that happens, because I'm afraid I'll end up paying way more than the guy thinks it's worth (although it shouldnt matter if that's what its worth to me), or I go low and "insult" him.

Yea just the same, if they *did* say "make an offer" then they shouldn't denigrate anybody *for* doing exactly that, making an offer. At least the interested party took the trouble of trying. It's like saying "critique my website" and then get offended when someone makes a criticism.
