I would say you need to develop it to make your money back. However, the three letter domain name market has gone up in price recently, even with the .net ext. All the best

Quite franky, unless its a 3 letter word - your not going to see any kind of resale at that price. Recently, I sold Dad.net for $21k - however that was because of the word - "dad". Blo is pronounceable, but not truely a word. (Blow, would be the word). I personally think you paid high on the resale side for this one. Expect to hang onto this for a year before you'll make any kind of profit.

Way overpaid.. Meaningful terms are selling for less in the .net area. I've noticed personally .net domains sell for 1/20th or less of the .com extensions in most cases.. Simple reason being, you don't want to risk dilution by someone else starting a .com with same name.

You could have gotten a decent .com with 3 letters in the 6k range.. so why get a .net?

sorry mate..

I agree, you overpaid, but just hold onto it,maybe even for 6 months, and you might can double your money!

Example: fund.com sold for 10 million.. what do you think fund.net will sell for?

A very very low price compared to 10 million.. Simple reason 1) no traffic 2) there is a bigger better site at fund.com 3) more marketing dollars will pour into fund.com

Who would want to live in the shadow of a larger business? like in real estate, virtual estate is also LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION.. errr I mean EXTENSION, EXTENSION, EXTENSION ;)

search is your friend :)

The average has been about 5k on various boards & expired name auctions. The good ones in the 7k - 10k range and most basic ones for 4 - 6k.. Of course, the meaningful ones are way way higher..

KMX.COM with revenue has a high bid of 9k.. I think that is a better deal than blo.net for 2100..

i think you are right on the money considering that you paid the end-user price. hold on-to it for year, i think you will be able to get your money back and some +.
there was a big interest on your domain on sedo. 12 bids!
so don't worry.

PS
i was looking at dnjournal sales:
PRC.net sold $2,400. NOS.net sold $1,900 , PNH.net sold $1,669.
OBB.net sold for $10,000
yes, and there are few .net sales at $1,100-$1,500 range.

Are you serious the average?? I think you are looking at very old sales my friend.

If I look at reported sales since dec 26 the average is $14559.75
If take out all the sales over 10K the average is still $8279.92

So please teach me how to search for these decent LLL.com under even 6K I would love to have that info?

As blo.net I think you did fine, I am sure you will make a little on it. Find an enduser. Wait a year, you will may double it.

11,500,000 for blo in google.

Ending in LO is great IMO = ??? Law Office, Liaison Officers, Life Options, Luis Obispo, Lake Ontario, Learning Objectives.

And for BL - Bausch Lomb, Business Law, Big League, Budgeting Loan

The L is also great for Library and the O for Online.

Trust me.. NO serious business would want to have the acronym "BLO" if they have a choice.. 1) marketing ambiguity (both sound AND extension) & 2) sounds bad...

You should monitor sales at tdnam.com, pool.com, snapnames.com & other name catcher places to see those prices.. they are not publicly visible unless you bid on those domains..

again, KMX.com is better value than blo.net

.COM is the king no matter what you say.. other extensions are mere sidekicks.. There are Trillions of dollars worth businesses on .com domains and no way that is going to disappear..

Why do you think someone would pay $10 million for .com when they can surely get a .NET for 1/20th the price?

SIMPLE.. I think the buyer WAY WAY overpaid for it.. You may think/say what you want.. but ask a non-domainer and you will see it yourself.

If you wait a year.. HOPEFULLY you will get 50% of what you paid..

I think it's okay, if you develop it and you get your money back.

Once developed.. even a .US can be worth millions.. case in point del.icio.us

But as of now, just for BLO.NET name..

I am not trying to make the buyer feel bad.. He needs to see the real world and hopefully, will negotiate a better deal next time..

I agree BLO is not a great name for most Businesses. But maybe not bad for some thing in the Hair Styling world. ho knows . I have seen worst names used my business.

You will do ok but you are able to resell and get your money back now I would.

As for watching all the drops , I do and I sure dont see LLL.com going for the prices you say. Also when did I say dot com were not king. They are the best obviously.

The ratios are very different for 3 letter names. More like 12% or so.

The very worst 3 letter .com's start at 6.7-6.8k. The very worst 3 letter .net start at $800.

I'm not sure if the price paid was above market value or not but the the buyer certainly wouldn't have to wait 12 months to get half their money back.

way overpaid. purchased at the high end user price. but I guess if he bought it for that crazy price someone else who dosent know how much its worth my pay 2K for it and you can break even. Good luck.

today you overpaid.
in a 6-8 months, it'll look like a decent deal.

This is a triple premium pronounceable LLL.net. 3character.com lists the minimum wholesale price as $800 for the worst LLL.net for a quick resell.

BLO.com is worth much more than the minimum wholesale price and is worth about $2,100 right now in my opinion. If I had the scratch, I would have probably paid something close to what the OP paid.

PRC.net sold $2,400.

PRC = People's Republic (of) China. One big reason for that price.

Relax, BLO.net is worth all of what you paid for it. You did not over pay, it's all premiums and a great sequence of letters. The O at the end makes it a strong combination. What you have to realize is this....millions of people and companies in the world.....take a ride in an airplane.....look out the window over a city, you get a great perspective of how big the earth is and how huge and important the internet is....realize you are the only person on earth that owns that domain name :) .
