Hi all,

Have you anyone else noticed that many companies are using hypenated domain as their official website, even though they own the non-hypenated domain?

Is this becoming a trend that companies prefer hypnated domains?

for example: this-that.com instead of thisthat.com

Thank you.

Hi all,

If you own both you can go with the hyphen and not feel like your promoting someone else s non hyphen.

This would be done because this-that fits their perceived branding better than thisthat

But they made darn sure to get both

There is a reason we have a hyphen key on our keyboards

I am hearing this for first time. May be you are right, but pronouncing this-that domain will be "this hyphen that" which does not sound much brand-able.

I'll say.. 100% of times non-hyphenated domains are better.

If you look at the domains written down though I think the hyphenated name works better.

thisthat looks like gibberish.

this-that looks like this AND that. Which is, I'm sure, what they want people to think when they look at the name.

I think sometimes a hyphenated name can look better, but I would agree that in the vast majority of cases the non-hyphenated name is better.

I think non hyphenated domains are better but hyphenated domains can still be very valuable.

I have sold a couple of hyphenated names to endusers and never have had any complaint whatsoever about it.

I've even sold a hyphenated .net for low xxx. You can usually find some good keyword hyphenated domains available to register.
