I know one can set Firefox to open all links that are meant to open in new windows to new tabs but is there an html way to do this? I.e. something equivlanet to
Code:
target="_blank"
perhaps
Code:
target="_tab"

Or maybe some js that would do that?

I don't know if there is a setting for that. The bad thing would be if you are using IE6 it wouldn't know what to do. You would have to have backup to open up a window for ie.

I don't think there is any html do that either, though it would be very handy to have. Firefox, Safari, and other tabbed browsers have preferences/options to open new windows in tabs. Maybe once IE 7 comes out, and most people are using tabbed browsers, would that target be added to html coding, but not at the moment.

"is there an html way to do this?"

no.

Even "_blank" is being phased out.

That should really be something that could be implemented into firefox coding or something. I will tell you IE7 could get a jump if they implemented that. As for "_blank" it doesn't even validate in most cases now.
