To a reseller, a .net might be worth more than the equivalent .org because the target users for .net names tend to have deeper pockets; .org is usually owned by a nonprofits, whereas .net is typically owned companies in which the complementary .com names are taken.

CONTEXT, CONTEXT, CONTEXT.

Well I feel the .net just looks cheap, it says "I couldn't get the .com so I am stuck with this" while a .org signifies an organisation, which could be a company or a business and not just a nonprofit. A .org seems more professional IMO then a .net. I really tend to stay away from .net and dont have to many, most of the ones I do have the .org is already registered and I have gotten the .net from a drop.

From my British perspective I'd say:

Com
Co.Uk
Org
Net (Nets don't seem popular here in UK unless the site is tech /Internet related)

Then very far behind:

Eu
Info
The rest...

Not sure where to fit Org.Uks in above list but probably above net if you're looking to get good UK traffic on a developed site. Org.Uks are well recognised by the UK public as most organisations use them. They can be great for developing as it's still quite easy to get good premium names at low prices (or reg fee). But only the best names will sell for decent money without a site. So I'd rank them much lower down the list if just looking to sell without development.

Or if you want stats (apologies for a bit of self promotion) on com/net/org/biz/info/eu/mobi/asia for 2008:
www.hosterstats.com/DomainNameCounts2008.php

Regards...jmcc

That's a pretty fair list for the current values / prices though there will always be exceptions.

Semantic meaning between the TLD and the domain name is becoming increasingly important, so I guess that will put a lot of pressure on .net in the longer term.

The Big Three are the most popular and will continue to be so. They are the only extensions 95% of internet users have ever heard of, followed by a couple of the Country TLDs.

.COM
.NET
.ORG

Then the rest.

This type of question always reminds me a series of lectures given by one satirist and titled (transl.): About a superiority of Christmas over Easter as there are so many factors influencing such rating, if any can be constructed. Or we're just talking about emotional part of our TLD preferences?!

In Canada, .ca is used by the general population and highly trusted in commerce so it's:
