.mobi is worthless/near worthless in most situations; there is no way it's worth more than .net/.org.

It totally depends on what the site is going to be used for.

If someone wants to develop a website on the importance of recycling plastic, I think a .org (organization) is more appropriate than a .com (commercial).

Additionally, if you're putting together a website on Israel, I don't see why Israel.cc wouldn't be just as nice as Israel.ws/Israel.co.uk/Israel.info, etc.

Now, this has nothing to do about dollar values, but how "appropriate" each extension can be :imho:

Considering it's only September, that leaves plenty of time to plan a wedding between GF and enic.cc. :imho:

Is the color blue superior to the color yellow? Sure, polls universally demonstrate that most people generally consider blue prettier than yellow, so clearly then all women should permanently dye their faces blue in so that will men find them more attractive.

As GF implied, that value of a TLD depends on CONTEXT. In Germany, .de ubiquitously reigns superior to .com, as does .com.au in Austria. Is Taxi Truck (dot) com "better" than Taxi Truck (dot) com (dot) au? Absolutely not. Why? Because taxi truck furniture delivery and removal is an industry highly specific to Aussies, who universally consider .com a cheap, dissipated evil twin of .com.au. A similar analogy applies when comparing global extensions. BB.com is probably 1-2 orders of magnitude more valuable than BB.org, but personally, I'd much rather have Poverty.org than Poverty.com; or LeanOn.me than LeanOn.com

The one exception I'd grant to this context-specific rule is that, excepting rare hacks such as Fishing.net or Inter.net, a .net name is universally a poor-man's .com. However, on occasion the .net and .com versions work equally well when in light of social networking oriented fan sites such as the hypothetical Vegetarians.net or CityGirls.net

I dont understand why so many people think .net is better then .org? It does depend on the domain but IMO .org is better the .net in general because .org is preferred by some end users to .com but I cant think of many scenarios where a .net would be preferred to a .com.

It has a lot to do with the buzz of .net back in the day. A lot of ISPs used .net as it was an ideal domain to distinguish them from the .com websites. (This was a time when ccTLD doms didn't really matter as much.)

It does depend on the domain but IMO .org is better the .net in general because .org is preferred by some end users to .com but I cant think of many scenarios where a .net would be preferred to a .com.
Probably not any more - the ccTLD has, in many countries, knocked the .net out of position as the second most popular TLD. And in countries like Germany and the UK, the ccTLD is the most popular.
