How would I do this? (flash)

I've never used flash before really but the thing that I had in mind I don't know how to do. I guess I have to animate it some how but I'm not to sure how to do this since I'm not that experienced with this. My splash page that I made for a site is just a photo that I minipulated and the photo takes up the whole page. Since I don't want any text to be written on the page when someone first sees it, I've made links and when someone chooses these links I want a text box to scroll upward and thats where the different pages will load on the splash when each link is chosen. I guess I should make it so that a really short clip will play once you hover over each link so that people actually think that they're links instead of just plain writing too...So how would I go about doing all of this? Is it just pretty simple or will it be hard for a beginner? If nobody feels like explaining it than a tutorial on something like it would work just fine. Thanks!

Oh I forgot, is there a way in flash to take the picture for the splash page and have it adjust to any screen resolution that its being viewed on so that the background color won't show on resolutions larger than I designed the image for?
