Hi all,

I would like to know the following:

- how/where can we see when a domain name was regged for the first time? (year / date)

Thanks all,

Regards!

Hi, thanks for the response.

But how can I do in this situation:

- for example, we pick a domain in the aftermarket so the registration date changes to the date that we start owning the domain. How can we do to know when the domain that we picked was regged for the first time (previous owner)? - age of the domain.

Thanks all :)

marketraise.com/seo-tools/domainage.aspx is a site for finding the domain age.

Go to Archive.org and enter the name into the 'Wayback Machine'. They don't have every domain ever online, but they have the best domain/website archive around. IMO. Good luck.

What is the TLD of the domain (com/net/org/biz/info/mobi/asia etc)? If the domain is in the gTLDs it should be easy to check. If it is a ccTLD, then it might be more difficult as the ccTLD registries have different ways of presenting their whois data and often only include a renewal date.

No it won't find the age of a domain that had been registered ,
then dropped and registered again.

I just tried it on a domain I picked up during the drop today.

It shows today's date.

The OP was asking how to find out when a domain had first been registered.

get a paid version at domaintools.com: Domain Tools: View Historical Whois Records which will allow you to see the entire span of the registration period, regardless of drops, lapses, changes in registrant/registrar etc..... certainly worth the money imho. SP

Google the full domain with "" around it. You might get the drop history of the domain.

Not perfect, but you can often get a ballpark figure.

It can work well for domains that have drop dates between 2005 and 2008. There seems to have been a lot of sites publishing drop lists over those years. However if it is a ccTLD then the coverage will be less accurate. I did a crunch of the domains deleted in com/net/org/biz/info/mobi/asia/ie between 2000 and 2010 (and not currently active) in April and it worked out at around 130 million domains. After 2007, many domains started to move to the registrars' auction websites or auction websites with which they had agreements.
