Hi Guys - I hope someone knows how to deal with this problem, i have a new monitor and the recommended resolution is:

1440 x 900 @60Hz

Going into Windows control panel only gives me the options:

800x600
1024x768
1152x864
1280x720
1280x768
1280x1024

How can i set it to: 1440 x 900 @60Hz?

I also can't change the Hz value to 60Hz - it's now at 75Hz?

I'm not that technical with all of this so if there is anyone who can share some tips/advice i would really appreciate it!

The display resolution is a function of the video card installed in your PC. Your monitor can display 1400 x 900, but it's possible that your video card (or video chip on motherboard) goes no higher than the 1280 x 1024 you listed.

I had this problem with my 22" monitor running in 1680 x 1050. I had to purchase a new video card to display the super high resolution of 1680 x 1050. Bought the GeForce FX 5200 and it is superb.

The other possible fix is to download an updated version of the software drivers for your current video card. Visit the video card manufacturer site to see if there's an update that may allow your current card to display the 1440 x 900 resolution.

P.S. I should mention that your new monitor probably came with a CD containing general windows drivers for your packard bell monitor. Don't know if you installed those yet. If you haven't, try that because some of those drivers may be compatible with your current video card and provide you the 1440 x 900 after installation.

Thanks Carlton, you gave something to Google for :)

Okay- that worked :)

I downloaded the latest driver from the Dell website and i could now increase the resolution meter and change the Hz settings to: 1440 x 900 @60Hz

As recommended.

What i do see now is that the text, for instance the text in the posts look a little bit slimmer.

Is that normal with a higher resolution monitor?
