hey guys how to pitch a .com domain for a.net enduser?(website up and running0
will they be really interested?

They could be interested if there are some traffic coming to your .com from people digiting .com instead of .net.
In this case you can redirect your .com to the .net for some days, then contact them using one of JoshuaPz templates, but adding on it about the redirection.
If they use to track traffic and noticed the increase, they would be interested.

However, sometimes .net owners could be interested in .com even with irrivelant traffic. Get a try.

Without even trying to convince them, you should be able to spark up some interest pretty quickly - especially if the term is related to a product/service/untrademarked brand that they own/are offering.
Owning the .com version is like owning the term on Google/Yahoo. Sometimes, it's more about IMAGE and BLOCKING COMPETITION than anything else.
When I sold MDD.com to MDD.net, it was a piece of cake. Who wouldn't want the .com version of their website?
You do not need to waste too much of your precious time and energy coming up with good reasons as to why they would need the domain and pitching them over to them.
They need to come up good reasons as to why they DON'T need it. Chances are they won't be able to, and they'll make you a reasonable offer or fire you a "how much?" email. Then it's just a numbers game.

Why have you started buying .net's recently, federer?

I have been buying .net's for the past year.
Speaking of .NET's...

Just sold BookDistributors.net for $300 (picked this up for reg fee a few days ago)

I've sent out about 50 emails so far just by looking up addresses in whois. Not one nasty reply yet. Just one positive but non-commital response. I guess even if you're a noob you can just be polite and explain why your name has value in a matter of fact way, and not generate much of a backlash.

This is quite common and can get a bit frustrating. I sent out over 50 emails the other day got 3 replies and no takers, when I sent out my pricing info. Although in hindsight I think I was overpriced.

Well, this has mostly been for my upcoming auction, so I wouldn't expect many positive replies. They would either tell me to f--- off or they would just place a bid... or simply ignore me.

Many times, but the chances of the .co.uk owner (or any ccTLD owner) being interested in the .com complement is much smaller than a .net owner taking interest in the same UNLESS the .co.uk owner does business internationally. If he doesn't, then he still may consider purchasing the .com for the purpose of brand protection, but he probably wouldn't be willing to pay much (if anything) for it as .co.uk is the ideal TLD for a local-serving commercial firm operating in UK. Many mid-sized UK companies who own (their company name).co.uk don't even bother to register (their company name).com.

Hey has anyone tried to contact end-users through Facebook. Many business owners create Facebook pages for their businesses. The response rate might be higher since, everyone is using Facebook at the moment, in contrast with website info emails ([email protected], [email protected])

To give you my own experience, I did use Facebook to contact an end-user that didn't respond to his website info mail. I finally managed to find him through Facebook but the negotiations didn't result to a sale. :(

Hope next time be more lucky, but I am definitely gonna use this kind of approach.

I have tried Facebook, but you have to be very careful with that. Some people are offended by being contacted that way. At the very least, you should have a separate account just for this activity, as it may get closed.

Any specific reason why this thread has been un-stickied?

I think the spamming to sell names that you don't even own (expiring names) is a little shady, but then again, these guys have actually helped me to find a few good names that I may have missed otherwise. You should at least own the domain before sending out unsolicited email in my opinion.

Selling the .Net and .Org to a user who already owns the .com is possible if they understand SEO and the benefits of a good 'authority link' network. Using domains with the same keywords to build an SEO network is an excellent method to get top rankings in competitive niches. Getting links from their direct competitors is not likely, but building their own support network accomplishes the same goal and gives them full control. They can use aggressive link building techniques on these sites without risking any penalties on their main money site. As SEO continues to get more and more competitive, single sites will no longer be able to compete against these SEO networks.

This is a classic thread, thanks Joshua, Federer and everyone else. I hope it gets stickied again.

This thread should be stickied - without question.

I was very surprised when I went to click the other day and it was somewhere else.

I didn't notice it was until I read the posts.

I don't know what happened, I don't see anything noted anywhere
but it is stickied again. :)

Which is better to have as a professional image for end user sales...
1) A website name that shows focus on domain sales only such as "AwesomeDomains.com" or
2) A website name that shows domains are not the sole business model such as "AwesomeDesigns.com" and do web design or graphics work also.

How long do most of you usually wait before sending a follow up email? I was in communication with someone last week and on Friday I received an email with an offer stating he could close the offer today (friday)..I got his email a couple hours later and responding but did not hear back from him. It is now Monday evening and I didn't hear anything from him. How long should I go before sending a follow up email? Also, does anyone have any good follow up email templates? Believe it or not I have never written a follow up email before because my sales have always closed rather quickly lol..

Here's one I sent the other day, I waited 72 hours, (not sure how good it is but it got my buyer to put his offer through):

Hi (name),

I have not recieved your offer of xxx dollars for (domain) on sedo.com yet. If you have any questions feel free to ask. Just click on the link below and put in your $xxx offer.

(link)

Once you have put your offer through, I will accept it and then sedo will send you directions on how to make your payment. From there sedo will send you further directions on how to remove the domain from the escrow account.

If you have any questions feel free to contact me.

Thank you for your business,
