How to do customizations to php-bb

I am a php-bb noob.

I have set up a php-bb site at temporarily at kellerman_org/bb

How do I replace the default php-bb banner with some thing else? How can I customize the pages to include other elements such as adverts etc.

Also, I would like to display an RSS feed on the home page (like you can in a block with php-nuke). How can I do this?

phpbb Why not go to the source. They have many custom hacks there for your forum and many other sites that work with phpbb are also there. I'm sure they can help you with what you need to know. Check thier knowledge base for information on changing the banner.

or You could just right click on the banner get the properties then you will know what image it is. then just replace that image with the one you want in your file manager on your server.

my god. You gotta go to the template directory and edit the apropriate .tpl file. It's just HTML, you don't even need to know PHP to do it.

I had problems with this when I started too. You can right click on the image, view it, and find where it is located. The only bad thing is you can only make an image the same size, to make it look right, and it will have to match the theme. If you want it a different size you will have to change the attributes in some files.

You can search Google on how to create your own PHPBB theme, it might give helpfull tutorials on which files/lines to edit. I would first recommend finding a style you like, rather than the original, and installing that.

http://www.phpbb-design.com/ is my favorite by far. You can get ranks, themese, avatars, smilys, and more. Check that site out and find something you like. If you have problems installing it, PM me and I can help.
