Hey everyone,

I think this may be seem like a strange question to many but here goes!

I registered a few .com domains a while back before i really knew what i was doing and before i knew much about trademarks etc. with regard to domain names. Now, i have not, as yet, had any problems with the domains due to trademarks issues, i.e No lawyers yet! BUT, i am now aware that the domains are clearly in violation of some trademarks...

My real question now is: HOW DO I DELETE THE DOMAIN. Let me explain:

I have paid my 1 yr fee for the domain. Thats fine. i am happy to loose the money. It doesnt bother me in this case. I want now, to be able to delete my details from the whoIS of the domain. basically, i want to have nothing to do with the site... Is there a way that i can do this or do i simply have to wait for the domain to expire???

Any and all help would be appreciated!

Ask your registrar. I know Godaddy and many others have a function for cancelling/deleting a domain. If not, keep it unparked and unused until it expires.

Good advice IMO. If you cannot get the name deleted, try the following:

If you use the following nameservers, the domain will currently not resolve:

NS29.DOMAINCONTROL.COM
NS30.DOMAINCONTROL.COM

This will prevent any ads being shown on the name i.e. registrar parked free ads which might also get you into trouble.

Matt.

I got this advice on another forum on how to flush domain whois info. First create a fake account at the registrar. Then push the domain into the fake account (free). Then delete or let expire in the new account. Some registrars fail to update the whois after a delete which causes problems, so this method flushes the entire system. Of course historical records are still around, but at least this guarantees that your name is no longer in the current whois.

That piece of advice was from Daniel, the poker guy, in response to a question from a user that deleted the account but the whois did not change.

I use GD and you select 'Manage Domains'. Select the domain, select "Cancel".
