Hello,

I was looking for advice on the best way to contact companies regarding marketing your domains to them. Specifically, I find it difficult to get any contact information, other than maybe a customer service rep email or a low-level tech support person. How do I get contact information for a DECISION MAKER knowledgeable in what good, generic-product domains can do for their company? Someone who maybe knows about direct navigation or simply the importance of a generic domain?

Then, once I have this, do I contact the company by email, professional business letter, phone?

AND..do I include in my email, business letter or phone call some background on direct navigation and the importance of a good domain name or just assume that the person at the company has this knowledge already?

I am at the point where I am ready to do some direct marketing of my better names to companies, but am finding it VERY difficult to find the appropriate contact information or person with the right kind of knowledge to market my domains to.

Thanks!

Always include your email address and phone number. You may find it helpful to state in your email that you would like your email forwarded to the proper party within the company. I have been working to get to Fox's inner-ring of marketing, but still find it difficult. There isn't an easy answer. Stay persistent. If there is a phone number, you may want to try calling that as well.

Hi Fonz,

Thanks for the advice. The companies I am trying to contact are mainly outdoor/marine industry types. I am finding it very difficult to find any email address, save for a customer service type, for any of these companies. I have decided to go the snail-mail (US Postal Service) route and individually mail each of these companies a business letter. In a day or so I will post my letter for any members here to use should they want to contact companies this way and also to get everyone's feedback on how I designed the letter. Hopefully some of our fellow members will find my sample letter useful!
