How old do you have to be...

to get a drivers licence? like if you go to drivers ed and you get your permit then do you get your drivers license in 6 months or has that changed? If it hasnt i would rather not pay for driving school if I have to wait until I am 18 anyway. Any help would be helpful

It's different in every state, but here in Illinois, you can take drivers ed when you're 15, and then you get your slip and when you have that for 3 months, you can get your license (if you're 16 by then), so it worked out I was able to get my license on my 16th birthday. You can take it privately at a driving school or you can take the class at your high school but that takes a whole semester. If you don't take driver's ed then you have to wait till your 18th birthday and just take the test at the DMV.

Can get a learners at 15 in GA, if you take a school driving course.

Takes one year to be able to take your drivers test.

For us here you have to be 15 1/2 for driving lessons. You can then get your lisence. You have a temp for like up to 1yr. When you pass you have 9 months where you can have only 1 friend (unlimited family) in the car. After that then you have a lisence till 19. Right before you are 19 you get a new lisence. Then you get a new lisence right before 21. After 21 it is a true FULL lisence. Then I think it is every 6 years or seomething.
