How much did .Com renewal cost before 2000?

Hi There,

I know there are people on nP who had registered .com domains before 2000.

I would like to know how much did it cost back than.

Especially in the early 90s.

Please post your experience and the approximate timeline for the renewal cost.

Thinking back I started a business named Contact USA in the early nineties, and I believe I paid around $150 for just the domain around 1995. When I bought the name I recall it being a "no brainer" for a company with 100 employees and grossing 3-4M in annual revenues. Fast forward 20+ years, and it's even more of a "no brainer" to pay just $8.29 for a domain from GD.

I still can't believe this industry even exists as it does. I hand registered a couple of domains yesterday that could easily be developed into multi million dollar businesses.
