I don’t know whether domainers are interested in a custom-built or third-party desktop domain catcher script, but many domainers use them on a daily basis.
Desktop domain catchers are usually not the best choice for highly competitive domains like .com, but they are widely used for ccTLD domains.
The DropCatcher I built is mainly used for catching ccTLD domains (including .com and other TLDs). Some of my clients use it daily and are successfully catching around 10–15 domains per day.
