I see epik and porkbun are selling .c and other handshake domains.

Also I see an ad on namepros, unstoppabledomains selling .crypto, .nft etc.

So are these different networks?

Can anyone invent his own extension and sell?
And any potential future conflict?

This is all about accpetance, networking etc.
So whoever becomes more powerful would try to eliminate others.

These are not domains, but with the same logic bitcoin is not money.

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
Anyone can have any extension they want if they can control the software and settings.

ICANN will roll over these "extensions" and delegate them on the standard DNS root servers, that will work without the need for any special software or settings.

All different networks.

Handshake is the only one (so far) where you can easily turn your name into a TLD.

Interestingly .c is reserved by ICANN so will not be conflicted, making it a good Handshake extension.

Handshake is kind of a different thing that has many of its own issues, but Unstoppable Domains are just offering non-existent extensions, at least non-existent on the standard root servers.

This has happened in the past with New.net and others. This time it is just wrapped in trendy buzz words like "Web3", "decentralized", etc.

They have tried to file TM protection, but it is completely pointless. They have no exclusive use to these terms, especially as domain extensions.

ICANN will delegate .crypto, .nft, and all these others on the standard root servers.

The blockchain-alt-root folks are simply going to replicate the same history as the traditional alt-root folks did more than 20 years ago – right down to the boneheaded notion that filing trademark applications will give them some kind of hedge against future collisions in the legacy root.

It. Doesn’t. Work.

Look at the bones:
