last month around 12/12/2005 i got on offer from sedo regarding one of my (.be) domains, the name is registered with eurodns.com. i accepted and the buyer paid

'We have received full payment for this domain. Please await further instructions from your transfer agent. It is often the case that we have to wait for certain details from the buyer so please be patient during this period.'

i haven't recieved any other word since, how long does it take for these things to close? i haven't gotten any word from eurodns regarding a transfer request...how long does it freakin take?????

Sedo takes FOREVER to get the ball rolling. I don't understand it either. Have you written them about it?

i just got this auto response:

Thank you for your email. I am currently away, so I will be unavailable to answer any queries during this time. My colleagues will endeavour to answer mails in my absence but due to an unforeseen staff absence response will not be as prompt as usual, and I ask for your understanding in this matter.

oh great....

Well he paid you so he's the one who's missing out.

I had a buyer once. He paid thru Sedo, and as it was a co.uk, I went thru the process of sending the transfer papers, etc. Then the buyer simply stopped communicating, like he lost interest or died (I hope not). So after several weeks of this, Sedo informed me that they cancelled the transcation.

Question is: what happens to the money? And what if the buyer eventually submits the transfer docs to nominet?

Isis, I don't know who you talked to there, but try emailing Christian Kalled directly at [email protected]. He's always been helpful to me when things happen like this.

I have the same problem. Buyer paid on the 23 of Dec. I haven't received a transfer request for the domain. All my e-mails to Sedo went unanswered until I told them that I would lock up my domain within two days if I didn't hear from them. This is the only e-mail they answered. Their answer was that if the buyer didn't request transfer they would transfer the domain to their account at another registrar. After two days I relocked my domain. I still haven't hear from them. I don't understand what is going on. It's hard when you don't know the name or e-mail of the buyer. I don't like doing business this way. I wish I knew if the buyer is having the same trouble on his end.

my sale that started on Dec 13th just completed today, and I think part of the reason is because I sen't about 4-5 angry emails to multiple people at sedo, I think it was entirely too slow for a large company, I will say that after complaining Martin was good at speeding things up, better late then never I guess.

my advice dont sell a domain near the end of the year (or any holiday period) Like everyone else the Sedo people take off on holidays... not like the24/7 domainers ;)

Wait a bit

then the transaction may go faster

I speak from experience my transaction was also painfully slow cuase i accepted like 3 days before xmas

True, but some people like to worry about their reputation as a seller and like it when their customers get good service. I know, it's a funny thing isn't it? :|

UPDATE:

I e-mailed Sedo that the buyer had until 2/3/2006 to transfer the domain as I had another inquiry on this domain. Sedo informed me that the buyer had started a transfer request on the 1st. Since today is the third and I hadn't received a transfer request from the buyer's account at GoDaddy, I decided to lock my domain. Well guess what-the domain is no longer at my regestrar. I checked the who is and it is now at GoDaddy but not in my account. How can a domain be transfered with out my knowledge? Sedo informed me that I would get a transaction and security code ID and that I should forward it to them so the transfer could proceed. I never received a transaction or security code ID.The Whois information is still in my name as of this time. Has anyone had this happen before. I e-mailed Sedo but no answer. I suppose they are gone for the weekend! Is it possible to e-mail GoDaddy and ask how this name was transfered without my consent and who's account it is now in?

I will never, ever do business with Sedo again. They have the worst customer support ever.

Sedo is a pain in the arse.

I lost an excellent thousands offer a few years ago because they never completed the contact process and probably the client died as happened to amstrong (perhaps)

Later I lost some premium domains registered at domaindiscount24 that they never were able to renew... probably because they were already on Sedo's hands before the redemption period was over.

Recently I gave them a new try with a 4 characters domain on sale but their interface insist in make it "not for sale" just worthless parking since it has best revenue conversion rate parked at domainhop.

By doing this you are stumping your chances of selling your domains IMHO

This is the biggest domain selling company going! They get alot of sales and probably have a hell of alot of work to deal with.

Hope that it all goes through smoothly
:)
