When I list domain names at Afternic and Sedo, I have the option of selecting a category for the name. Afternic has very nice categories and it's not too difficult to choose a category that works for most of my names. Sedo, on the other hand, has really crappy cateogries; so many names ended up in "uncategorized" that I now simply make every name I enter in Sedo uncategorized.
My question is, how important is it to select a category for each name? Do people really search or browse through categories, or does everyone just search for keywords? If the latter, I'll just quit using categories.
(Afternic does pay attention to its categories and to its customers. I suggested the huge and growing field of Robotics to them and they added Technology/Robotics (it's great because nearly every name in the hundreds there is one of mine now!) within days. I've recommended some changes/additions to Sedo but nothing ever happens there. Most of my names are alternative energy and robotics and amazingly there are no categories that fit for those major groupings of names. They either don't care or they aren't thinking.)
