Back in January, this year, I completed the sale of TopOffers.com for $10,000.

I originally bought the domain in late 2015 for around $550 off eBay. Watch my interview with Michael Cyger on @DomainSherpa and listen to my story on how I sold this domain and some acquisition and sales tips thrown in.

    Watch the Interview here: http://www.domainsherpa.com/david-kelly-topoffers-flip/

Please feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions.

    Thanks

    David Kelly

    Congratulation dear friend.

It requires 3 things for this kind of deal.

    1. Hard Work
    2. Smart Work
    3. Luck
Best of luck for many more similar or better deals in future.

    Thanks

Great to see you make another decent sale, congratulations! Just few questions hopefully you can shed some light on.
1- Do you suggest putting higher price on landing page (I am using efty) than aftermarket? If yes, what would be the reason behind this pricing strategy?
2- You pointed out you are shifting your focus from generic keywords to brandables, would you share some of your recent acquisitions that reflect this shift?
3-What techniques do you use for your outbounds? Do you track emails, put in a price for first email and length of the email specifically.
Once again, congratulations on a great sale and another good interview, cheers mate! Keep them coming ;)

Thanks for your kind words and great questions.

    1. Yes. I would research comparable sales and delve into whether the value is current or in the future. I would price my names according to my assessment of value at that time and if that changes in the future, so does the price. I price slightly higher on my assessed value in order to give myself negotiation room, if there is any interest.

    2. No problem. If you go to my site, oydomains.com and scroll to the bottom, you will find some recently added names. In particular, I have been looking at Smart/ Tech/ Data names.

    3. I don't do as much outbound as I used to. But, if you take a look at my previous Domain Sherpa interview - http://www.domainsherpa.com/david-kelly-contacts/ - It shares some of the techniques I use for outbound marketing. The emails are tracked using the HubSpot Sales app (free). When doing outbound, I don't mention the price in the first email, but when I get asked, I tell them my asking price. The length of the email is usually 2-3 short and to the point paragraphs. My previous interview should be really useful for you.

Hope this helps and please feel free to reach out with any questions.

    Thanks

    David

Thank you! Yes, i already watched your first interview and did put somewhat into practice. Thank you for the detailed answer, Just reiterating on my first question i meant should our own landing page usually have a higher price than one in market in a situation where you are listing it as buy now in aftermarket as well, cheers!

I would suggest that your pricing should be consistent across all platforms. This is important because it is easier to manage, no confusion and you don't lose out on any money. As standard have your pricing slightly above your assessment so that you have some negotiation room. Thanks

Congratulations. Your strategies are encouraging. More success to you in the offing. Thank you for sharing your valuable systems. Interestingly, I have offerbx.com on Flippa auction without reserve price now. I hope it is not sold so I can strategize like you. Thanks once again.

Thanks all. Not many quality gems (that are not overpriced) available on eBay.
