Okay, im a total nebie in this area, could you please let me know how it is that RSS works, if it is too hard to explain here could you please send me a link to a article?

What I really want to know is it a way for you to get content added to your site that is updated by itself?

The views expressed on this page by users and staff are their own, not those of NamePros.
.US domains.US domains
rss = the content from your website in an XML format which people can put into an rss reader such as thunderbird or bloglines and read the content without visiting that website.

it means I can view the content of 30 websites without ever needing to visit the 30 sites individually.

you can also like you say provide the rss feed for people to embed your content on there website.

example rss feed:

http://hotdeals.apple.com/newarrivals/rss/newarrivals.rss

Wikipedia is the best way for free information I think:
RSS information on Wikipedia
In the past RSS was a paid system but now with RDF it's Free!So It's very functional to use them,we don't need to explore every website...You can also use RSS feeds for Google Mails,I'm using it right away so I do not check my e-mail everytime..Anyway take a look:
http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/newsonline_world_edition/front_page/rss.xml
You can look for news without exploring them..
BTW:If you are using Firefox 2.0 Beta 1(or Bon Echo Firefox developer browser) you should choose a RSS Feed Reader..There is more than one reader so you have better options...
If you want to use them in your own website, you no need to update RSS Feeds it's automaticly update when you add something in your website...
Thanks with regards,if you don't understand something from the Wikipedia source ask it,we can help you!

Yes, you can add content to your site from various sources. You can get news. BBC, Yahoo, etc... all offers free rss news feeds.
There are many other feeds you can get. For example, I offer feeds on one of my site for latest project posts that anyone can add or republish on their websites.

From where? How? Can someone please post connect-the-dot instructions for a NON-programmer to add an automatically updating (non-java) RSS Newsfeed to an html web page. I've repeatedly scoured all of the main news sites, and even emailed them, and can't find *anything* instructing how to add their live newsfeeds to my HTML web site page. Thank you in advance.

Have a look at www.simplepie.org. After looking at a bunch of different products, I have found this the best for adding rss feeds into html. Also it is open source.
