How does one become a domain registar?

I have no interest in being one, but it got me thinking. How does one become a domain registar. The way i see it is if a registar is somehow connected with ICANN then why are people going with the middleman (registars)

How is all that set up? Is it some sort of expensive licence fee? etc.

The better, easier and cheaper way is to buy a Reseller plan from a good Registrar.

just create an account with some domain resellers...then buy a bulk domain names from the providers...now you can sell domains...i have an account with this provider goresellers.com....with some good facility like free web hosting,free email hosting etc....

The way I see it, it's very hard to become an icann accredited registrar. You need alot of capital. The easiest route is just to become a reseller from a big provider such as enom etc.

There is some minimum requirements, just for example:

Your bank balance must be $5000 - $50000
- Pay annually fees like $4000 to icann
- You must have a 1000 domains(If you have a 10 domains and want to become a domain registrar then best option is become a reseller of some domain registrars.)
