When I start a thread, (a domain for sale for instance), how do I "close" it? If I don't close it does it keep going forever, does it close after a certain length of time or do NP staff close it at their discretion?

A staff closes it, I think.

In some sections you can edit your post and select to lock it, or post a new one and select "lock after this post". I don't think that applies to the sales sections though.

Usually people ask for a staff member to close it in the thread or in the "Private Messages to staff" section.
It automatically locks itself after 6 months, I think.

You can use the "report post" option a post in your thread to request it be closed ( That's the red triangle on the left side ) , or just post a message to the Reported Threads forum with a link to your thread.

Otherwise it closes automatically after 6 months.
