Dear Mike,

In case you do not have a DB and the control panels are not compatible.
I would do it this way:

- FTP all your files from your old host to your computer
- Write down all email accounts (so you know what accounts you all had)

- Now, upload all files from your computer to your new host
(Your host provider can provide you with a temp. ftp. server name
this is mostly the IP address of the server)
- Check if all the files are uploaded and if your site works
(this can be done from a test link, also this can be provided by
your new host. mostly looks like: www.<hostname>.com/~<usernameaccount>/ )

- In the new control panel make all your email accounts again.

So on, this moment you have your site running on 2 places.

In case you have a domain name regged at a third party, You can
change the DNS (dont forget the MX record for email) to the
New host. Again the new host will provide this information.

In case the new host has to handle your domain name I would suggest
you first do a whois on your own domain. Check if your email address is there.
And then start the transfer to the new host.
This process can differ with the different TLD's.
Again your new host will help you out with this transfer.

When the DNS is set to the new host. Wait for 42 hours.
You will notice you have to enter your new email information
suddenly in your outlook etc..
(then keep waiting so all the DNS servers are done... this is a auto
process so, you just have to wait.)

Then after like 42 hours delete the email accounts and files
from the old host. Cancel your account with them.
Do a whois on your domain name. (to see if your new host regged it
correctly) and well you should be done. :)

Hope this helps you out.

kind regards,

Faisj

If your going from a cPanel host to cPanel host they should be able to transfer it for you which saves alot of time.

All they should ask you for is ther server IP of the sever and your cPanel username and password for each of the sites then they will do a server to server transfer which keeps all your files.

Has always worked well from my experiences using it!

Hope it all goes well!!
