Hi, ive been playing around making websites with php, and i want to create a mysql database. Ive got a book that tells me how to do it but it doesnt actually tell me how to connect to my server. Iv registered webspace that allows mysql databases, but how to I connect to it through a command prompt on my windows machine? Is there any software I have to install? Thanks for any replys

That site is awesome.
go where it says training, click video tutorials. when the page loads, there will be a menu on the left. Go near the bottom to web design. Click it and Web Design I and Web Design II will appear. Click Web Design II. That has all kinds of php and mysql stuff.

My only problem with them is they almost seem to assume you have no knowledge of the internet, so it can seem a bit slow sometimes.

Normally your host will give you a control panel which will allow you to create databases. Ask your host - that's what their support is there for.

The most common way to administer MySQL databases is using PhpMyAdmin. This runs on the server and gives a web interface to your databases.
