Hello,

i sold some domains in the past.

I never sold by sedo/ebay or something. Nomaly i wrote mail to companies where i thougt it could fit.

Now, i get an offer for panamapapers.ch - he wants that i sell it over sedo.

Might there be any trap? Why he dont buy via email/contract?

He probably said sedo because the buyer is familiar with it. Sedo offers the escrow service as well. Is just a guess. :)

Since he doesn't know you, he might be thinking it is safer to do it through SEDO. I have had similar situations in which I offered a name to a client and he preferred to use GoDaddy for the transaction. Nothing wrong with that...

I think he just wants a safe transaction so wanted to go with Sedo. If you are not comfortable with Sedo than you can also consider Flippa, Afternic.

Don't forget that those auction platforms have fees. Keep that in mind when you price the Domain.
Good luck!

It's O.K. to go with domain marketplace as long as its a reputable one. Assuming you are new to domain marketplaces, avoid using Flippa. You can go with Godaddy Auctions, Afternic, SEDO.

Go with Sedo. Their Escrow fee is just 3% or 60 dollars minimum.

That .ch on his name means he may be Swiss so I'd say SEDO for Europe.

Which one would you personally prefer and why?

I can prefer all these, as these platforms are reputable. However if you want to save couple of 'good' bucks in commission, then go with SEDO, I believe their commission rate is less than Godaddy Auction and Afternic (FYI: Godaddy runs Afternic).

All he needs is a safe and secure transaction. Don't think too much. You have got an offer for a domain which is in news off late. So when this news get old, he probably won't be interested in it. So its best to sell it fast now.
