How developed is "developed"?

I hear alot of "mid xx, develope for more" - how much exactly is developed? How much traffic should you have? How much do you develope before the domain's worth goes up? (And to what degree?)

(In terms or traffic? Forum posts? A page laid out but PHP not coded? Pretty graphics and text content? Search Engine ranking? Etc?)

Development is- traffic-Content-Revenue-Page rank IMO

Well, IMHO, developed simply means an established website with traffic. I don't exactly have a set amount (personally) that I consider developed or not developed, but I think it's fair to say a site with a few uniques and adsense ads slapped on a page it took 10 minutes to create isn't truly "developed" as a website.

Developed for me is defined as a website with effort (graphics, custom information, etc.) and receiving some amount of traffic on it's own at the very least. I'd say you would at least like to get a couple hundred uniques a month - with more being all the more merry.

The more you put into a website (in the right form, of course) the higher the value of your website.

How much of a diffrence does it make?

Say I had RPG-Gamers.net, with a couple hundred per month. Alone it problably isn't worth much or anything at all, but how much more is developed?

(What if I had a better name .. MartialArts.com? Does development make it worth alot more than the other one? Is it "exponential" I guess is what I'm asking?)

Thanks ^_^

It depends on the popularity of the site,For instance,Ebay started at 0,Now millions of hits per day.Another-Google,The word makes no sense,But because the site developed into an empire,It's worth a fortune.Potential is only what the effort you put into the sites development,Adverting ,ect=Hits.Hits can =Popularity,The more popular the more developed.

Developed domain's value is linked to their revenue potential. A website put together in 5 minutes, as already explained, won't be of much value. Same applies to domains whose traffic is artificially inflated (ie. 'clickbuys'), because in the end it's very easy to filter them.

Good points in all of the above posts. I think it's worth spending at least a few hours or days developping a bit of content - if only to give a potential investor a clearer idea of what kind of opportunities are associated with a specific domain name.

To use a couple of properties we manage as examples:

I don't consider the Jaipur site to be developped, but I would say that the heat pump directory to have enough content to say it is developped.

IMHO, a single parking page is not a "developped" site.

Rob

Well, you can't really put a value on it to be honest. I can't say it's going to increase in value x amount each time the site receives x amount of visitors. However, I can say that development is huge. It increases the value exponentially, but the exact amount may vary from site to site.

Branding is a huge part of developing IMO.
however, once a domain has been dev'ed you are no longer selling the domain but the site/business

IMHO, devolped means:

1. Page has unique graphics that are visually appealing
2. Page has unique content, not just RSS feeds or ads
3. Traffic
4. Some Revenue
5. I can tell some time was put in to creation AND revision of the site
