What do you think of my up-and-coming website DNlet.com ?

REP ADDED FOR ALL REPLIES, THANKS

I'm not totally done yet, still have some things to finalize before I'm ready for business but what do you think about the general layout so-far?

I'm still learning as I go about web site design although I already know quite a bit about Domain Names:)

Comments about design and layout would be appreciated.

I'm designing a navigation bar for the tops of the pages currently:)

Thanks,

When you first start everything is quite big but usually the more you practice you get smaller and sleeker, overall its not bad. I like the central style banner and the idea is a good one. However, as with a lot of people the size and the style of the font lets you down a lot here. For the links try having them in all caps but have the first letter bigger then the other letters, you can get a really good effect with this. Keep it up and good luck,

Things are a bit big right now. They'll be getting smaller as you said. I don't have too much content at the moment so I though larger text would be better than empty space.

I'm adding more and more everyday and the fonts are getting smaller as I go.

Comments greatly appreciated, Rep Added, keep them coming:)

I have pretty high standards and this just doesn't cut it for me.
I think the logo is well designed...the animated gifs are quite a turn-off.
Many websites these days don't use big transparent gifs anymore, but idunno I could be wrong on this.
Also there's so much empty space...you might want to make the links a bit smaller and keep the different parts of the sites closer together for easier browsing.
And what is that awfull gray picture in the background? Are those leaves?
It doesn't match the website.
Anyways good luck finishing it.

Are you using photoshop or another program or just frontpage?

The blue boxes are a little dull, perhaps try rounding the edges or having a two tone gradient effect or a scanline or something to break it up a little, the animated gif does look a little pixelated and perhaps may be better replaced with a picture but good luck with it

The background pic is a blue hazy sort of graphic, not gray, hmm is it gray on your pc? Or are you reffering to the table borders its a gray marble pic.

I will add more content, the empty space is being filled.
Maybe I should second guess the animated stars, I thought they drew attention to the Featured DNs though, maybe I'll find better animated stars:)
Unless your talking about the spinning globe, that can go--

I'm working at it, I do still have a full time job :( I would love for this to be my full time job, maybe, hopefully :sold:

Thanks for the comments!

I really like the concept you have going. For not specializing in web design, I would say its pretty darn good. The only thing that bothered me was the animation icons. Although the color scheme could work since your really looking to sell the domains as a developed site I would go with some monotoned colors to give the site some balance.

Anyway I would say nice job and keep on messing with it.

Apologies GreenGambler, i meant the spinning globe, the stars look fine too me but keep fiddling until you find nothing you want to add or nothing that can be taken away :)
Good luck,

Don't use times new roman. Don't use animated gifs. Try to build a layout that's not like a chess board. Although it's an interesting way to organize the information, your visitors might get lost. You need a "normal" layout: left menu with links (or links in the heeder), and a main text column.

The site needs to look clean and professional since people who visit it are knowledgeable about design. Keep us posted on the development ;)
